It's a sea pen

This evening Khon2 news had a very different guest swimming by. Courtesy of NOAA, a sighting of a very unusual creature was caught on camera. Sea pen says Aloha, to Hawaii as it was seen off Hawaii in the deep. Scientist say first sighting of a sea pen in Pacific! Video from:

@oahuwriter wow! If I had seen that photo and video with no context, I would have thought it was some sort of plant attached to the sea floor. Never seen anything like that. To think, there's so much of the ocean that hasn't even been explored yet.

Good question, I don't know, news hadn't said. Vast area, polar seas to the tropics, says Britannica.com.

Good question, news report didn't say. Researching a bit to it is nocturnal and eats plankton. They anchor themselves to the sandy bottom, and their wavy arms like tentacles capture plankton.

Habe not seen this creature until now.
Sounds like this sea pen wants to travel and has migrated from the Atlantic and Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.

Yes. Scientist are very excited, because it's the first sea pen found in the Pacific deep ocean!
