Need a dress for a wedding

My cousin is getting married and she told me that it's gonna be black tie. That means I have to wear a gown or a longer dress. All the dresses I have no longer fit me so I have to go shopping for one. That is something I did not want to have to do. Finding a dress that looks nice, fits well, and isn't very expensive is hard. Last time I looked for a dress I wasn't able to find anything.

Good luck! The only times I've ever gone shopping for a dress was for Pretty's Junior and Senior Proms... We did manage to find dresses she liked and I could afford but I hope to never need to do that again.

@DaddyEvil Hey listen, I was just going to empathize with you on dress shopping for yourself, because I’ve been through that before. You know how hard it is to find a dress for a 6’3” guy?

Good luck on your hunt for a dress. I really hope you find something you like and within your price range. Sometimes clothes shopping can be stressful, especially when it’s for an event.

I have a (food) belly but when people see it they tend to think that I am pregnant lol. I can't buy a dress, no matter how nice it is, that ends up accentuating my belly.

Thanks. Would have been nice if I were able to fit into a dress I already have. I thought that was what I would do for the last wedding I went to. Didn't bother to try it on until pretty much last minute. Turned out I was able to get into it but it was slightly tight and made my belly stick out. No time to shop for a dress but my mom found a pant/top outfit from my aunt's boutique that was nice and I wore that.

Here we go again. I don't envy you having to find a gown. What about a place like RealReal? Or do you have to try the dress on first? Or a website like SimplyDresses? Put in "inexpensive gowns"; and you will come up with a lot of options. Good luck!

@lovebuglena When is the wedding? The one we have to go to is August 27. She said, "Wear what you want. Jeans are OK". So I'm wearing black pants and a rhinestone top.

At the moment I just want to find a dress that I'd wanna buy. Then I will deal with the cost of it. But I want to buy something that I can wear again to other things and not necessarily just a wedding. I don't want to buy something that I will wear once and then it will just hang in my closet. I already did that once but it was my wedding dress, so that doesn't count.

Well, if you're a size 10, I have a dress for you, lol. I want to sell the long dress I wore at my granddaughter's black tie wedding ...I don't expect to ever wear it again. But you're much younger than me. You'll find the perfect dress.

Do you have thrift store in your area? They might have what you need, and very inexpensive. Good luck. (No one knows unless you tell them, it's a thrift buy.)
