Good morning. Shocked by the plastic.

In my house with Tania, we are trying to recycle what we can of the thousand plastics the hospital sent with me.
I am sure that health and safety can be achieved without plastic garments and gloves that the aides wore when coming to my room everytime I wanted to pee. Every day, just from my room, the cleaning staff took away 2 big loads of them. It is then when I remember the sea of plastic we have that is bigger than Australia and growing.
I went twice to the Atacama desert years ago with my husband. The first time my eyes watered at the brauty of it only marred by some manmade mounds from the time of the salitre boom.
The second time, I could see the border of the highway in the middle of it, filled with soiled disposable diapers, cigarette butts and boxes.
Now I have read that people have dumped new clothes that are bought from China. The price the merchants get for 2 or 3 garments pay for a container of clothes. The rest is taken to the desert. When I read that, the article also said that there were 60 season in a year as buying clothes went. GOODNESS!!! Meanwhele, some people don´t have food or clothing. And the planet is being destroyed in huge steps.
When I wrote the subject of this post, I became aware of 2 meanings of the word "shocked". Because the next generation will shock to death if we don´t put an end to this.
I love Eva´s posts (@wolfgirl569). I feel that her life is a true example of what it should be.
See you. I´m better, friends.

I'm supportive of those who want to recycle paper and plastics. People throw garbage everywhere, littering is a terrible crime!

Now that I´m buying groceries online, I have more than my share of paper bags (in my country we have a new law against giving food in plastic bags except for meats and the like). I recycle all of them in different ways.

@kobesbuddy I do wish that the plastic was not used to begin with though.

@marguicha Yes, we do the exact same thing. Around the corner from our home, there's a recycling site. We go there every week, to deposit our plastic in the huge container. Welcome home, Marga!

Thanks for the shout out. Sadly I still have a lot of plastic stuff around also. It seems anything you buy is at least packaged in the crap.
Glad you are feeling much better now.

I used to have two big bags I made of canvas. I still have one of them. I have been planning on making big grocery bags from old jeans when I start going grocery shopping again. They can be washed even if they are stained.

@wolfgirl569 Where I live there´s a city law (I don´t know if it is for the rest of the country) where plastic bags are banned from grocery markets. They sell there bags that can be reused but now I have my own bags made with old garments. And it is free. When I buy groceries online they are only allowed to bring the groceries in paper bags.

@marguicha That is a good idea for bags. Now if we can get them to stop packaging everything in plastic.

I try to recycle reduce and reuse as much as possible. It really bothers me when others just don’t care. I have heard about spots in the ocean where garbage collects. I have also heard what you mention about clothes. It is all such a sad thing!

@marguicha I believe they actually created an island from a huge amount of garbage. There is a mountain not far from us that is one created by covering up a landfill.

Only the youngest are being taught somehow about it. But still none are taught about the dangers of consumerism.

Eva is very good, but still too many buy everything disposable and throw tons of plastic every year. What will he next generations find? Mountains of plastic and nothing left, as we do not write books anymore, everything is in digital world and this does not last for centuries.

@marguicha It is a shame that in school they are abandoning ancient history. The reality is that history always repeats itself, with the same problems and the same mistakes.

@marguicha The less they know of the past, the more mistakes we will see made in the future.

There are lots of everyday things that can be done. Even deciding to buy less clothes is important. Lately people have a lot more clothes than before. And they are not needed. The amount of water it takes to make a pair of jeans is shocking.

So glad you are doing better, and I hope you will feel better day by day, Keeping you in my prayers because living on my own, I know every little bit helps. I wish that when I order my groceries online they would come just packed in boxes but not all those plastic bags then I use the plastic bags for garbage and somehow it all works out, but I know somewhere that plastic is turning into a mountain.

As I just said, if we go to the super we can take bags made with our old jeans. It is a good way of recycling.

The amount of plastic pollution on the Earth is astounding; and the amount of trash in our landfills is appalling. Something has to be done...and soon. Hope you are feeling better.

i do my very best to repurpose and reuse things whenever possible. Plastic everything, it surrounds us, and the piles of plastic in our oceans alone is just shocking. The world in general needs to wake up!
I am so glad you are able to be home and feel some better now!
