Have you ever seen some incredible or unusual animal behavior? I can remember such an experience occurring at a zoo park.
When I visited Great Adventure, we took the car ride through the jungle safari. Everything was going along nicely seeing the different animals while riding and stopping along the route, until we came upon the chimpanzees. All of a sudden, a troop of chimps came running towards our car so we thought great, we will get some great close-up pictures.
Well, I was surprised when they all jumped on the hood and started trying to eat the rubber off my wiper blades! And your kind of helpless since you're not allowed to leave your vehicle.
So, the only thing I could think of doing was to turn on my wipers and spray them with the water solvent which comes out. It worked, and we got the car on the move in a hurry.
Looking back on that now it was pretty funny although their shocking behavior really startled me at the time!
*The post photo of goats climbing a wall was an animal behavior I found that was not only cool but incredible...
Any animal stories to share?

Only animals I have here are my kittens who at present climb on the cat tree and look down on the five newly born kittens in the box below and try to figure out what they are while the kittens are now trying to get out of the box.

Cats do like to find a perch don't they. A bit safer than those goats!
Fun Goat facts:
-Mountain goats are powerful but nimble and can jump nearly 12 feet in a single bound.
-Goats feet, from their 2-toed hoofs to the rough pads on it's bottom provide the balance necessary for climbing.

Yes, I was really surprised by how well they can climb.
No equipment like a human rock climber only with what they are born with.

I have been in situations where animals were crossing the road and we had to wait for them. Sometimes they will just stop and look at you.
Another odd thing is when a storm is coming. Watching how nervous and uptight horses will get is weird.

Good examples! I noticed geese who cross the road from a nearby lake by my home. And they are in no rush cars or no cars. No looking both ways for these birds!
That's true about animals and storms. My cat would have a worried look when there was a thunderstorm.
You'd think those goats in the photo would have a little fear... nope

I guess the strangest I have seen was a cat out here sitting with squirrels.

That's strange. You would think they would be having them as a main course. Speaking of that, my friend's cat would kill and eat squirrels and leave the tail on the front porch for her as a present, yikes!
Those goats had some pretty amazing behavior which surprised me too. Climbing such a steep mountain like a human rock climber without equipment except for what they were born with.

Cats seem to do a lot of weird type stuff. My Spooky would drink water out of the toilet.
She also used to chase a flashlight beam I shined on the wall and would chatter at birds and squirrels from her window perch.

In HK, there's a place named Monkey Hill because there's a lot of monkeys there. Several years ago, my friends and I walked in that area. I was holding a bag of bread. All of a sudden, a monkey came and grabbed the bag. He was really quick. I was a bit shocked. That said, the monkeys there are quite cute and do not attack people.

Food is a definitely something most animals will try to take from you. Maybe the chimps we saw at the zoo were mad we did not feed them and thought the rubber on the wiper blades would be tasty

Whoa, that would be a little shocking. Good thinking on turning them on. I went to an urban park that has zoo animals last year. The fox came out of his enclosure, and seemed to be posing for pictures, smiling. A coincidence? I don't think so.

I don’t know if JJ mentioned it (I’m catching up from the weekend of being at the course), but one of his cats is standing up, drinking out of the birdbath. I love watching the videos!

Hey water is water! Sometimes a water dish is not always handy
A behavior similar to my cat who would drink out of the toilet. Hopefully I didn't forget to flush

Sorry, but I kind of had to laugh at your chimpanzee story, LOL! I imagined it in my mind, and then I wonder what I would have done in that situation. You were smart to do what you did, though. I don't have to look very far to see any strange animal behavior. My cat does really weird things on the daily, LOL!

I helped with several Katrina rescues during that horrible time when so many people had to leave their pets or couldn't keep them because they lost their homes. One I rescued, was an Umbrella Cockatoo. Although every attempt was made to make sure there were not owners looking for these pets, usually the owners were not found, and after a period of time the animals were adopted out to someone else. A few were returned to owners when the owners had a place to take them.
This Umbrella Cockatoo was the smartest, nicest bird ever. She hated her cage, so as long as I was home, I kept the door of her cage open. She wanted to be on top of the cage. She talked just like a person. She absolutely fell in love with my West Highland Terrier. Followed her everywhere. Every morning she screeched for her ''Pretty Girl'' to come and see her, she ate a few bites of dog kibble with the dog, she tried hard to share her own treats too, and was very disappointed that the dog was not interested in orange slices or green peppers or whatever I had that I cut up and gave her for her treats. There was a blue blanket on the back of a chair that bird loved. She would cuddle down in the blanket and say Blue Blanket, over and over. She was better than a burglar alarm or a dog or a camera, no one ever came near the house without a warning being screeched out! I hated to send her back, but that's part of rescue, the fostering and such. Her family was so excited to see her, and she was excited to see them. A great reunion, but her family told me she spoke of the dog constantly for weeks, wanting to know where her Pretty Girl Charlotte was. An unlikely pair!

I enjoyed reading your response. Quite a bird Marie. That Cockatoo was more social than some humans are! And a happy reunion ending. Just like a Hallmark movie
