Lemons everywhere.

Recently we went to visit our cousin's place. He has a huge yard and has grown a lemon tree which was full of lemons. Several lemons were scattered on the ground. His wife said that they usually donate the extra lemons to the neighbors. When we were returning they gave us lots of lemons. Now after coming home I am thinking of growing it at home but not sure if it would grow in a pot as I dont have a yard. Can anyone guide me? Picture of their lemon tree.

Maybe if you have a big enough pot it would grow, at least you could give it a try. A lemon tree in a pot would really be cool.

I will try it. I read that it would yield in 5 years if grown through the seeds so it would be better if I buy a plant from the nursery.

Yeah, you are right about that. Hmmm, now you have given me an idea, I think I will visit the local nursery to see if they have any slow growing pine trees, I would love to have one in my home.

they dont really like pots - they prefer the ground, I think the roots get too hot.I had one in a pot that never had a single lemon lol

You were lucky to bring back home a lot of lemons. Your would need a very large pot to grow a lemon tree. My grandfather had one in a pot.

You can plant it on a big mud tub and use some stones on the surface mud so that the lemon tree remains a bonsai. I think they will bear fruits.

@sjvg1976 If you are talking of bonsai lemon plant, then no. I have the full grown lemon tree in my garden but my peepal tree was a bonsai which I accidentally placed on muddy spot in my garden and the root grew through the hole of the pot and grew into a large tree.

How wonderful to have so many lemons from the lemon tree, Perhaps this can help.
Growing indoor lemons isn't hard as long as you choose the right tree and meet its special needs.

Awesome! I’m sure you would be able to grow them, but you would need a very large container. I wish I could grow a lemon tree.

@DianneN Yes the lemons require heat, cold weather is not supportive for them to grow.

I don’t know if a lemon tree would grow in a pot but it wouldn’t hurt to try. I don’t have a yard. Would you buy a lemon tree or would you plant lemon seed?

@sjvg1976 A plant would grow much faster and in a couple of years you might be picking lemons off your tree.
