Hummingbird Approves of New Feeder

Bought this hummingbird feeder last year and never put it up in the garden. Finally decided to have it attached to a pole in the garden would be better than actually using the hanger it came with. I have one hanging on the deck already. The hummingbirds are approving of the new feeder. Since it was installed late yesterday evening, they have been visiting. Sat on the deck steps earlier with the camera. Waited and finally got a few photos. They only allow one to feed at a time. Even though this feeder has five feeding stations. They will chase the others away. Just how these little feisty hummingbirds are. They are so entertaining to watch. Now they can hide in the rose bush to the right of the feeder, and the butterfly bushes behind it. So funny to watch them. The white butterfly bush is behind the feeder in this photo. Full of blooms. The butterflies are enjoying both bushes. More of those little things to enjoy. Hope your day is going well. Photo is mine.

Hummingbirds are rare to see here in the city. You are fortunate that you can see nature around you.

Its great that the hummingbirds are enjoying their new feeder. As soon as I looked at the photo, I thought it the perfect location in front of the butterfly bush.

This is a pretty feeder and the little hummingbird seems to enjoy it. It was a good idea to to have it attached to a pole in the garden, there are many more places where the birds can hide but still be close to the feeder.

@CarolDM May be that later more than one bird will come, they need a little time to be confident.

Thank you I loved it when I saw it. But still only one bird at a time. I liked the idea of a pole too.

Well it is so nice to have the approval from the birds! Will any other birds too try to come and water from this Feeder? Do Brendel and Dude happen to come and chase the birds? I know these are too many questions but well, I am just curious!!

@CarolDM Don't the cats need to come out in the sunshine and fresh air? Bees and Wasps would also be liking the place I suppose!

I agree. They enjoy the deck feeder as well. They go back and forth. Yes other birds will visit but cannot get their beaks in the tiny feeder stations. Also bees and wasps will visit and yesterday I saw a butterfly land on this one. Never too many questions. My cats are indoor only, they never go outside.

You do such a wonderful job of taking care of God’s little creatures! I’m glad the hummingbirds like their new feeder. Are hummingbirds migratory birds, or do they stay in one particular area most or all of their lives?

How sweet. I enjoy it so very much. They give back so much more than I give. They are migratory. They love the hot weather. An interesting link here about the migration.

These humming beauties don't mind being alone while eating . They're not very sociable. Very pleasant time of the day you were having, Carol.
