Camper Journey #2

Gator has been busy. He has sent me a couple of ideas throughout the day. Three to be exact. Two were not what I wanted. Not the right floor plan. Not what I wanted in slide outs. This one is more my speed. Has the double slide outs. I prefer a center island in the kitchen, but I do like the way this kitchen is laid out. I like the theater seating and the king size bed. I told him this one is more like it. Now find me one a couple years older maybe since now he has teased me with lower prices. I am not unwilling to spend $40k. But if he can find me something like this for $30k we may have a deal. Take a look and let me know what you think?

There have been a couple of people outside the country who said that. I wonder if it may be blocked since no one anywhere else can actually buy anything from there?

Nice little setup on this one. Much roomier than I thought. Very spacious living room. Not a bad price for $40k. Thirty would definitely be more doable. By the way, that WAS a $30k RV before inflation took hold! Lol

@porwest What was the big thing (or main thing) you didn’t like about it?

@moffittjc Too cramped and smaller than it looked. And just overall kind of blah.

You are right about the inflation part. lol. Incidentally we went to go see it in person and hated it. lol

My husband just called you a cheapskate. No. He'd know you're smart, like us. LOL. I don't blame you for trying to bring the price down ten grand. We would, too.

@kaylachan I go back to my latest Ford F-150 which is a 2018. I bought it in 2020 and it took me two years of shopping to find it. lol It wound up being something that I paid $26,000 for, that had one year left on the factory warranty, had only 24,000 miles on it. Heated seats, heated mirrors and so on so forth. I felt like I stole it when I drove it off the lot honestly. lol It pays to wait for the perfect deal.

Well, the thing for me is this; by the time they add in taxes, a warranty (which I would normally not buy, but on something like this would), and all the extra costs I'd be closer to $50k, which is still doable. But if I can get it ALL done for $40k? That's better. So, $30k would put me in at around $40k all in. This one was a 2021. Find me that in a 2019 or so and I am sure I would get the same camper for my money.

Oh man. What a bummer. I guess they are figuring you probably won't take delivery of one in Japan. lol

Maybe that is a "king sized" bed in RV world but that looks like my queen mattress. I like the kitchen set up as it is. Why would you want an island? Then you wouldn't have room to eat in the kitchen.

The ones with the island in the kitchen are actually roomier. As for king sized beds, a king is a king. It has to measure as a king to be called a king. I am sure it is just the angle or something. That being said, I am perfectly fine with this layout, and actually had not seen one with a U-shaped set up. To be honest with you, I might agree. With that setup I would not need an island. This one is pretty nice. I just don't want to pay $40k necessarily because once I add taxes and everything else I will be looking at $50k. I'd rather find something like this for $30k and then my total out of pocket is only $40k.

@porwest I know you want the cheapest price b/c you are a cheapskate. haha I can't imagine that kitchen area being roomier with an island.

@NJChicaa How am I being a cheapskate wanting to pay $30k that will be $40k? I am just trying to be smart with my money and find the perfect camper for the right price that I will enjoy for years to come.

No. But I did tell Gator this one was more like it. I'd like to see if I can find one like this a couple years older and about $10k less, figuring by the time you add in taxes and an extended warranty, which normally I would not buy but for something like this would, I'll still be at $40k all said. This one would actually be about $50k.

I like the way this one looks... A little cheaper would be nice but, since we're talking your money, I wouldn't quibble about the price too much.

This one would be great for about $5k less. I am trying to factor in the additional $10k or so I will need to cover taxes, a warranty and other costs.

Didn't you tell him what you wanted so he can show you exactly what you want as opposed to what you don't want? Or did he just wanna try to sell you something else on purpose?

I like it. It’s something like ours other than picture bunk beds on the side and a bathroom where the bedroom is and a full bed over the driver and passenger seat, kitchen the same with benches at the table with storage, and living room couch pulls out to make a double bed. A closet where your bathroom is. It’s comfortable and convenient.

$140,000?!!! Oh, get that one! Seriously though I like the floor plan of the one that Gator sent you.

I have seen some where the floor space expands with the touch of a button.

That is what this one does with the double slide outs in the kitchen/living area. There are some really nice ones and quite roomy inside.

Looks nice. I like the theatre seats too. My neighbor bought one a few yers ago. And he said he was so glad he thought to call a few reputable mechanics to find out which RV brands have the fewest service issues. Made him feel better.
