Camper Journey #4 And Final

Well, that's not quite how I expected this day to go.
I mentioned in an earlier post we were headed to my nephew's baseball game and then were going to go to lunch, and maybe hit Walmart in Waterloo.
Nope.
We wound up in St. Louis at the Family Arena at the RV show there. Meanwhile we were communicating with Gator about that other camper, and Wentzville is not far from where we were, so we decided to go and take a look at THAT camper real quick.
We didn't like it.
So, we got back in the truck and started heading home when my wife kept saying, "What about that one we REALLY liked that you wrote down from last Saturday?"
"We can't pull it," I said. "Wasn't that one too heavy?"
We argued a bit and she showed me the specs and I was like, "Wait a minute." We CAN pull it. And that one was bigger and was only $32k.
So, we turned around, went to look at that one a second time, and bought the damn thing. lol
It is not in our possession yet. We still have some other details to work out before we take delivery on it. But for right now, it is ours. It's a really nice camper, and once we have it lock, stock and barrel I think we will have a ton of fun with it.
Maybe we could have shopped a bit more? True. But honestly, it had everything we were looking for.

Congratulations, now the real fun begins! Well, I mean when you finally have it in your possession. Have you started planning your first trip yet?

@porwest That's a smart idea to get some practice in. Luckily for you, you have a work parking lot you can go practice at. I'd do the same. But you'll be a pro at whipping that thing into some tight spots once you get the hang of it.
My son and I were on a camping trip a few years ago at a state park on the beach. At about 11pm on the first night, a truck hauling a camper very similar to yours pulled up to the spot next to us. It was clear they had very little (or no) experience backing in, because it took them over 2 hours to back it in straight. The husband tried for the first hour, gave up in frustration and let the wife try the next hour. It was freaking hilarious watching them.

@moffittjc I can imagine the entertainment value of something like that. I hope I will not be one to be providing said entertainment, but who knows? There are actually some interesting backing disaster videos on YouTube, from boats to campers to other things. Learning the hard way is not my idea of a good time personally. lol

I think we are going to do some short stint, practice camps first just to get the hang of it. There's one camping area at Carlyle Lake that is about an hour away that supposedly has pull through pads as well as back ins, and I think if I can get a pull through and first get the hang of dismounting and setting it up and shutting it down, that would be the best first step. Plus, it's "clean driving," so I can get used to the "feel" of pulling it. I need to work on backing it up too, so I will grab it here and there and take it to our work parking lot some weekends to practice that.

@1creekgirl I am hoping they ARE happy trails. lol. A little nervous, and probably understandably so, considering I have never pulled anything this big before.

Congratulations! I just hope you don’t get the Gomer Pyle treatment from Camping World (surprise, surprise, surprise) that so many others have complained about.

This RV looks comfortable with plenty of room and storage spaces. And that's not a bad price at all! I hope you'll both love it and get LOTS of use out of it. Congratulations!

I think we will have lots of fun with it. There's actually another room in there that does not show in the pictures with a bunk and pull out and a TV. Not sure why they weren't in the pictures. We will either use it to host guests or just use it for storage. Not sure. But we are very happy with our decision.
