Good Morning on this Day of the Queen's Funeral

Good Morning to all. I have been watching the Queen's Funeral proceedings since about 6a. A lot of interesting pomp and circumstance. The old traditions and such are being carried out with such loving care. I am enjoying the behind the scene stories told by those who knew her down through the years. About how gracious, kind and dignified she was. It brings tears to my eyes to see how many people line the streets to say their last goodbyes and throw some flowers on the hearse as it goes by in respectful acknowledgment. They are carrying the casket inside the church now.

I read that nearly half a million people passed by the coffin lying in state. Plus all of those people lining the streets for the processions. We don’t understand the significance of the Queen as a “figure” to the British people, but we can certainly understand the significance of her life of love, service, and example.

@BearArtistLady — I wish we could find some British politeness and manners in America. I couldn’t imagine a somber, silent tribute from hundreds of thousands of people in the US. SOME idiot would yell “Free Bird.”

I had only had contact with British people in passing, now, I am living next door to a delightful British gentleman and am learning a LOT about the people and their customs. He delights me each time we are in contact with each other, and since I broke my ankle, he checks on me almost daily. Then again, the other apartment residents are making sure they check up on me and see if I need anything. Of course, I do the same for them too. It's like coming home living here. The Brits are interesting, and we can learn a lot from them if we open our minds to observe their customs. We don't need to adopt them, but we could learn a lot from them. It's like most of the humans, if we take the time to get to know them, we not only could learn a lot from them and also have a more open mind towards their culture.
