I Have a Question --

What would you think and feel if someone made a lot of comments on your posting on a given subject? Many long and in-depth comments on what this person felt were the correct way of looking at a given subject. Some of this person's comments were pretty radical. Then one day soon after writing these long and in-depth passages they just up and disappear. Would you feel that perhaps this person didn't really know what he was saying and decided it best to delete what he had put forth before this person was called out further? Were this person's comments taken down by someone on this site? Would you think that this person is just flinging rubbish and may not even believe what he says himself? I can't really say that anything further that this person has to say will be taken seriously if he is just going to come back a few days later and delete it all. What are your thoughts?

I don’t know what to think about that. I think I’d ignore it and continue with my usual comments and discussions.

@celticeagle I can’t imagine why unless they’re leaving Mylot and deleting everything they have on.

@RubyHawk .........Still here. This person came down off of what he said and redid a bit. I still don't find his passage.

I get a lot of cases where someone joins myLot, leaves one comment on one of my music posts, then vanishes. They aren’t long and drawn-out comments, however (usually “nice” or “good” ). In contrast, people on Facebook (in particular) don’t like to be called out for their opinion. If you present them with why you disagree, no matter how polite, articulate, and respectful it is, they bolt.

I try not to aim my comments about the other members of the lot. As it has been said many times and many ways "Measure your words"! I try to do that and not sling rubbish at someone else's discussions. Sometimes the comments are hurtful and are hard to ignore. It seems like with it happening and then the comments disappearing again could be the moderator removing them because of their content. But it seems like that person is trying to get your goat and that's all there is to it. Little things like that can start hard feelings which can eventually lead to wars. "Measure your words" I hope I am not one of the people responsible for this happening. I was thinking that until I read that the comments keep disappearing a few days after they are posted. Still, I hope that I am not posting rubbish in my comments and offending anyone.

I do try to measure my words. You are not responsible for this happening. I just never delete what I say on anyone's posts. I never have. I just feel now, after the deletion, that I can't really trust what that person says anymore. When this person can just delete comments they don't seem to take much weight on what they say.

@BearArtistLady ........I'm afraid, to be honest, I have done my fair share of both. Help and hurt. Making your teddy bears is a great way to help. Perhaps, the Gods are telling you to do more of those teddy bears in giving you this time of healing your ankle. Living in the woods sounds so nice. Peaceful and alone. Alone isn't bad really. I think it is good for us to be alone some of the time anyway. You have inspections there too. I have a major meltdown when ours come here. We are on Section 8 and live in housing. Rules, rules, and more rules. But, I am thankful for the help they give. I'll look for your post.

@celticeagle Thank you! I worry that I might offend people even when I try not to. I enjoy being on the Lot and joining in on the discussions. Even more so since Bill passed away last year. I work hard at trying not to offend people and to help them when I can. I have always been a person to help and NOT hurt. Come to think of it, that's why I started making teddy bears, because they comfort people and help them. That's my plan for today, to kick back with my ankle propped up and working on teddy bears for a change. I saw my Primary Doctor yesterday and he insisted that I spend more time with my ankle propped up and not running around a lot...that's hard for a transplanted country gal. I lived for 30 years out in the woods and moving into town is a HUGE change for me!!! I don't have the chores to do, and I don't have the critters either. So, it's kind of a retirement for me. Thank you again for relieving my anxiety about possibly offending you. I appreciate your comments and your friendship and don't want to do anything to cost it. I'm cutting this short because my apartment managers are doing their yearly inspection and are due any time now. I'll post a discussion about that and my doctor's visit yesterday after they have inspected and left. This is my first yearly inspection so it should be interesting. L & H's

If I am on a thread I always respond. I respond to pretty much all people who respond to me. Even if I am done with a thread, I will always usually leave some sort of indication to say I am done with the thread. That's how I do it, anyway. I never delete my comments, and I never take my comments back. I never delete anyone else's comments either. Although I have done it from time to time—but it is EXTREMELY rare. When it comes to responding to longer responses to me I like to take my time to comment back rather than rush a response or skim the comment.

I cannot imagine why he deleted them all. That seems weird. Maybe he feels he was wrong or doesn’t want someone giving him a hard time about what he said so he deleted it?

Oh wow - I've never experienced that here - how strange! If anything were inappropriate or breaking the rules, I would think the comments were deleted by someone upstairs. But otherwise I would think most people would just leave their comments - weird if this person took the time to delete them!

@celticeagle I don't understand why they would take the time to write something - only to delete it. Their own post I get . . . but not the comments. Strange.

The only persons who can take down comments are: the person who wrote the post the person who posted the comment myLot Administrator. If the comments and also the person disappeared, may be Admin deleted.

I think two of those didn't so we are left with the person who posted the comment. My feeling is that after they delete it I don't really take what they have to say for much merit. Any comment can just be deleted again. So, how much merit does it have?

@celticeagle I know of some who wrote offensive comments than deleted to avoid to have their account closed by Admin. Finally someone took print screens of their comments and their stupid game ended.
