Onward and Upward

Ah. Such is life. We took $10,000 out of savings and converted it into a cashier's check for our down payment on the camper to Camping World—which we pick up today by the way in a couple of hours. Then we took out another $5,000 for incidentals, like some of the work we will have to do on the truck to ready it for better towing of it—plus for a little gambling trip the wifey will do in early October with her cousin. On top of that the stock market continues to tank, further depleting the bottom line. Although, as I have said before, only on paper, folks. But it still hurts just a little bit. But it will be a long day, so I will not be able to spend as much time here. Some can begin rejoicing now. lol Onward and upward and see you on the other side.

I'm thinking of ways to feel myself secure and happy. This will help me not get affected by the bloodbath.

So long as you are staying the course and buying good companies, I would not worry about the day to day. You just accept the paper losses, sell nothing and actually buy more, and simply stay on strategy.

@porwest I remember the crash during 2020, I cut loss and bought at the bottom. I gained when it got back up. But I might not be doing that anymore. Some of my stocks are high dividend stocks so at least offsetting the losses. Some companies though have lessend their dividend payments. The economic climate isn't good but I have faith we will see better times.

I'm looking forward to your first "test" trip. I think you should take one.

We are looking into it. We figure we have about a month and a half to potentially use it.

@LindaOHio I am currently trying to see if we can do a weekend camp in the driveway...sort of a trial run including trying to back into what is as close to a "campsite" situation as we can considering we live in an area sort of like that. lol Have to get a side by side measurement to see if it will fit and all.

Adventure may be an understatement. Being complete novices...I am sure the experiences we will have will be more than entertaining. lol

It always hurts to see the stock market tank, even when our losses are only on paper for the time being. I know the market will eventually rebound, but it still sucks seeing it tank. It also hurts having to pull out large chunks of money from your accounts, but the euphoria you get when you take possession of the camper should far outweigh that small pit of despair in your stomach. If you get lots of enjoyment out of that camper, then I say it's money well spent.

I will have to catch up with you later! Good luck with all the stuff you have to do. Getting trucks ready to tow anything can be frustrating and a headache. So I'll send you good juju.
