A Very Sad Saturday

Mr Hissy & Tommy Cat

Earlier in the week I found that Mr Hissy was wheezing quite badly and he was eating very little, so I booked him into the Vets. Sadly, his heart was failing and fluid was building up around his lungs. I had to let him go and that was a heartbreaking moment. He has been living in the garden since the summer of 2019 and took young Missy and Tommy under his wing and protected them from the ‘evil’ Fluffy cat. That morning, I was very lucky to catch a photo of Mr Hissy, on the left, and Tommy enjoying some sun on top of Mr H’s house. I shall be burying his ashes in his garden, so I know he is still there.

That really is very sad. I'm sorry you've lost Mr Hissy. I remember you making him a new house in the garden.

He ended up with three and depending on the time of year and how close to a mealtime it was, would let you guess which one he was using. I shall miss the rascal

@Ronrybs Cats are so independent and they seem to never really appreciate your kindnesses. I wonder if another cat will decide to move in on you.

@JudyEv I don't know, cats are very appreciative in their own ways, even if it is mainly sleeping on top of you!

Oh my goodness. This is very sad about Mr H. Thoughts are with you and I know he is at peace. So very sad to read this news. You made him such a nice home. And took good care of him. Tears as I type this comment for Mr H.

Thank you. He was a special character and will leave a gap amongst the furry friends.I think I will leave the cabins up. I know Tommy and Missy like snoozing on top of them and they are handy for jumping up and down from the fence

@CarolDM Aside from Missy and Tommy, there is an occasional visitor, a handsome grey and white fellow. I know he is a traveler, but seems to be visiting more often the last couple of months

@Ronrybs I know how special he was to you. And who knows. Maybe another cat will come along for you to care for.

My deepest sympathies. Losing a pet is so hard, because we love them and want them to not suffer. So that final act of love we show them breaks our hearts.

He moved in as a free spirit and stayed. I think he adopted me. I wish I could have enticed him indoors, but he was independent. I will miss the big fellow

@Ronrybs Yes, this cat loved people and got along with everybody. He was OK with dogs too. He loved to play...sweet little angel.. I don't think I will ever love an animal again the way I loved him.

@snowy22315 I look upon having a new furry friend not as a replacement, but a moggie who no longer needs rescuing!

I am so sorry, I know how horrible it is to see them go. I do love cats, I let the cats of the neighborhood coming to my garden, they seem to enjoy staying here.

@Ronrybs - I enjoy watching the cats. The red cat of my neighbors (he is a small cat) jumps on the windowsill of my kitchen and meows to get attention. I always open to give him some treats.

@Ronrybs I met a feral cat like him ... oh my. It took so long ... I wanted to hold him but, I never got to. I always fed him. He loved me but, was afraid to get too close. He would sit, listen to me talk to him.

@GrannyGee He started off hissing at everyone, which is where is name came from, but he was quite amenable and didn't mind being picked up. He would join my neighbour in her garden and sit on her lap, purring like a good 'un!
