Room arrest... breaking news.

Good afternoon from this side of the planet. It's 12 noon as I write this post here. It's another cloudy day with sun and clouds playing hide and seek. Weather is cold but pleasant. We had some rain last evening. It's another day of room arrest with all renovation work going on. I have started with cleaning of few corners on the top floor where I am arrested and I have made some good progress. I will mylot for a while till it's lunch time. After lunch I would clean some more. I would never switch on news. They always have some thing disturbing and upsetting. But husband did it while taking a break from his work. Last couple of days were all about Hurricane Ian and all the devastation that it brought. I hope the nightmare is over. Prayers and thoughts for all who came in the path of this devastating Ian. Today it's about a bomb threat on an Iranian airplane. The plane has been denied permission to land in Indian territory and is doing rounds over the Indian airspace. The plane is headed to China. More reports are to come. Some sources feel that it might be a hoax call. Nothing seems to be clear now. More reports will come. Let's hope that all ends well. It's definitely a threat to security elements. That's all for now. See you later. I will switch off the TV and get back to notifications. Such news just upset me a lot and throw me out of my orbit. Hope all are good and safe in their mylot corner . Sending positive vibes and thoughts

I always feel quite safe in my own little corner of the world but of course that could change at any instant.

So do I. But then when I see such news or get those upsetting images, I feel like I am just living in a bubble and that might burst anytime. The world is definitely getting scary and crazy place to live

There's a reason I quit watching news and listening to the news on the radio. I don't need the stress. Pretty gets news online and, if there's something she thinks I should know, she tells me. There wasn't anything I could do about Ian, other than check on friends before and after the hurricane went through. And there's nothing I can do about an Iranian plane that was hijacked. I hope it's a hoax and everyone is safe.

I never switch on the news. It's for the same reason as yours. It just ruins my peace of mind and there is nothing much that I can do. But my husband has a bad habit to keep checking it. The worst thing is that he watches those news before bed. I just put headphones and listen to music at that time. I want to read good book, listen to music or just mylot for fun before fun. I don't want to go to bed with all those upsetting images. Let's hope that everyone is safe. Even a hoax call causing the security breach can not be ignored and needs a thorough investigation. Indian jets were scrambled.

@arunima25 My dad loved to watch the news right before bed. Mom always went to the kitchen and read her book while he watched the news. Oh, I'm sure there was a lot more happening than just jets scrambling. Good luck to everyone!

@DaddyEvil Marriage is all about those little adjustments. . It's an art of staying sane despite all things driving you insane around you. More reports and investigation will come and the things would be clear. I mean clear to the extent the media And higher authorities want it to be for common people.

There are advantages of getting the global news in real-time as compared to the pre-internet era when foreign news is one or two days old (and sometimes older). But you have a point about the tragic news coming at us in quick succession without giving us time to cope and assimilate the news. It can be upsetting and we feel hopeless and helpless. Worse, we become hardened and desensitized to human misfortune and catastrophe.

Yes, we get everything quick. News is important for us to stay updated and aware of happenings around us. But now a days we have an overload of news. With umpteen number of news channels, social media and other digital sources, things get overwhelming and take a big toll on our mental health. With so much happening around us and we getting to hear it every minute, we have been desensitized. We do feel helpless. I try to stay updated and not get an overdose of the hews to eat away my peace of mind.

@arunima25 United Nations condemned North Korea for that missle they aimed at Japan. News, sometimes doesn't have time for some news. Take care, stay safe!

@oahuwriter Well, such acts by United Nations don't bear any fruit. Sad but true that UN is powerless in such situations. Though it looks so powerful and effective on paper. People are suffering from war, Taliban... endless list and UN with the most powerful nations as it's members does nothing more than just witnessing it

Oh! I missed that news. But definitely the world might be preparing for some other kind of war. It's a crazy world . Well, we have not heard any further news about the same. So, guess all is well and it was just a hoax call. Sometimes no news is a good news.

News channels are full of all terrible news. The world really seems like a scary place to live today . I avoid news watching as much as possible. I just keep myself updated with news through news on phone or giving a glance through newspaper. This was a fake news. More clarification are yet to come.

@Nakitakona This came on all the authentic news channels..the alarm of bomb was a fake one. But the news was not. You are right with so many sources of news and social media platforms, fake news peddling is very much there.

Yes, that's what they reported. Two jets were scrambled by the Indian Air force. . Not heard any news about the same today. Well, no news is sometimes good news. Seems like a hoax call and all seems to be well

@allknowing It was not a fake news. They got the call about bomb on plane and so there was security alert. Also, they demanded landing in Delhi but refused to land in China. Something was definitely fishy else jet planes would not have been scrambled. Further investigation will clear the mystery or it might remain a mystery.

We have not heard anything more from the news. Well, no news is sometimes good news. It must have been a hoax call and all seems to have ended well . It's an old apartment and in the last two decades many things have become old. They needed repairing and some remodeling.

I hope for all on that plane that it's a hoax. Putting on the news is just horrible and it seems as if it's just worse and worse every day. Hope the renovation is coming along and your room arrest won't last too much longer

I have not checked the news again. Hope it was a hoax and everyone is safe. Right now I am watching Atypical on Netflix before bedtime. However it was a security breach and raised alarm. Indian Air force scrambled two of its jets. The renovation work is going good. Glad that a huge part of chaotic and messy work is done. It's mostly cleaning , painting and polishing for the next ten days.

I don't watch the news, but I do read headlines on Bing. We did get rain and wind from Ian. We had power throughout until the next day I think someone hit a power pole because the power flickered off and on.

I just want to stay updated with the happenings but try to get an overload of it. Most the news these days and the way they are presented to us is toxic. I hope that normalcy of power is restored by now. I am not updated with the recent happenings from Ian affected areas. Hope life is getting back to normal.

Yes, some bit of trouble and inconvenience for a beautiful house afterwards. It's plumbing, electrician, civil work, carpentry...all going here. Thankfully the major part of noisy and messy work is over. Now it would be mostly cleaning, painting and polishing for another ten days.
