Tomorrow, we are heading off again to go ‘glamping’ but this afternoon, good friends are coming for a cup of coffee. They have been in the eastern states visiting relatives and we’ve been house-sitting so we haven’t seen much of each other.
Vince has made a sponge which you can see in the photo. It now has jam and cream in the middle and on top. I might have put fruit on top but it’s not my cake and I’m sure it will be very edible.
I’m hoping I remember to take a photo of it before it gets cut into pieces. But, in the meantime, it looks pretty good, doesn’t it? I think it is only the second one he has ever made. I approach sponge-making with trepidation but not Vince. But contemplating failure doesn’t seem to be in his make-up. lol

I hope it tastes as good as it looks.
I have made them before and put cream and strawberries on top.

That looks good. And it's damn good for being Vince's second time making it. And the jam, cream and fruits...I am just drooling with the mention of those .
I am sure that your visitors will relish it

@arunima25 I've very lucky that he likes cooking. I am always grateful that he does.

@JudyEv Must have felt good then. Just like a winner . I remember you mentioning that Vince is the cook and Baker in the house. Lucky you. He seems so good with it

I guess he is both! It never crosses his mind that sponges sometimes go flat.

The cake seems a success - failure is a stepping stone to success if that is what Vince believes in.

Vince is a good hand at making sponge ! At the sight of the title "made a sponge for...",I thought the sponge was the one used to wash things.

Thanks. I always worry about sponges going flat but such failures never worry me.

I like them too. I like light cakes and puddings rather than heavy, stodgy ones.
