We've lost another great star. Dame Angela Lansbury died peacefully in her sleep today. She was famous for her many acting roles including as a murder mystery writer for 13 seasons of Murder, She Wrote. Her career spanned over 80 years. She played such roles as a maid in one of my favorites, "Gaslight" with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer, and a spy in "The Manchurian Candidate", even a singing teapot in "Beauty and the Beast" in 2017. But she also played characters such as "Gypsy" in 1975 and the ghoulish pie-maker Nellie Lovett in "Sweeney Todd: The Devil Barber of Fleet Street" in 1979.

Wasn't she also the tuppence-a-bag bird-lady in Mary Poppins Returns?

My favorite of hers is Blue Hawaii. She played Elvis' mom, even though she was only nine years older than he was.

She did so much. She was acting in the 40's. 80 years of material. I am so thankful we have her work to see any time we want to see her.

I remember the singing teapot but am not sure that I ever paid attention to anything else she was in. (I'm sure I saw her but just don't remember her in anything.)
