Ladybugs Are Everywhere Today

I see the ladybugs flying all around today. My two cats see them on the screens as well. They are both chilling in the screen room.
I noticed the holly bushes have the ladybugs flying all around too. Many will get these inside their homes. Not here. They always stay outside. I enjoy seeing them on the evergreen holly leaves.
I read this earlier about the fall ladybugs... In their home territory, the beetles try to survive the cold winter temperatures by grouping together in the cracks of cliffs. This behavior helps them stay just warm enough to survive the cold winter.
However, the ladybugs do not have as many natural winter spots here, so they have found the closest thing to it — our homes. Ladybug swarming tends to start on warm days after the first near-freezing temperatures in autumn. The first near-freeze seems to serve as a warning, then they wait for the next rebound in temperatures to start searching for a winter home.
Fall sightings of these beetles are more a sign of winter’s approach. As the temperatures begin to cool, these bugs love when a sunny day beckons to them to come out and soak up the rays.
Also noticed a few honeysuckle blooms as I walked around. And a few red holly berries for the birds to enjoy.
Will share those pics another day. A beautiful day to be outside.
Photo is mine.

Are there any male bugs? Every May we have a swarm of ground bugs. They're so luscious when we fry them with a lot spicy.

Not a single one in our garden. Do they destroy your plants like caterpillars do?

@allknowing Yes they are for sure. Farmers welcome these to help the crops. They have the tiny aphids on corn especially.

Haven't seen one for years. I can't remember seeing them in the house or outdoors.
Interesting about the ladybugs.

I love ladybugs. One time we had one on the porch we had and my cat was not being nice to it and I told her that she has to be nicer to it so I took over and took care of it. I saw one once again I think and I appreciated the information you put here about them. I am not out today so do not know how the weather is.

That's wonderful about the ladybugs. I've seen a few, myself. One even took a little ride on my shirt one day.

Wonderful photo, We always had quite a few ladybugs back in Latvia, some even on my houseplants, and I loved seeing them.

Our house is covered with them. Quite a few have made it inside and are fitting the ceiling. Drives the cat and dog nuts!

Those are Asian beetles. They were introduced here years ago to control aphids. Now they are out of control and considered invasive.
I don't live where I hardly see any of them at all, I have before but not for a few years. They bite, and they smell terrible, too.

But every year they come in on me now that I think about it.
