Happy Veterans Day to all of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines! And even you Coast Guard people. (Inter-service joking is allowed, of course.) Although the day is dreary here, I have another song with “Ruby” in the title to brighten your day. (Or not, depending on whether you like the song. ) Here’s today’s tune. #9: Ruby Dear - Talking Heads This countdown really was inspired by going to Ruby Falls on my vacation last week. It isn’t just another excuse to use a Talking Heads song. But, since we’re on the subject….. I’ve mentioned that I’m not a big fan of what turned out to be Talking Heads’ final album. Having said that, there are some good songs on the album. This is one of them. With those patented quirky David Byrne lyrics and vocals and music that goes back to the rhythms on Fear of Music and Remain in Light, this is easily a highlight. And it contains one of my favorite lines out of a Talking Heads song: Angels and prostitutes They might look the same I wish they could have stayed together, but the music they left is unbelievable.
