A breakup and thrift store shopping this past weekend

Friday there was no school so the boys were home for the day. I got my flu shot then visited my daughter at the thrift store where she works and looked around the shop. The employees stayed late Thursday night and my daughter went in early Friday morning to finish up a chalk board drawing. They did a big Christmas reveal Friday where the whole store was decorated for Christmas and tons and tons of Christmas merchandise was for sale. They made a killing on sales that day. I had never seen it so busy and I had to wait in line to check out. As I was finishing my dinner my daughters boyfriend texted me asking me to pick up my daughter and her things. I don’t like the kid at all so you bet I jumped in my car and took off. My daughter told me he was breaking up with her because she wanted to go to hang out with her friends and he couldn’t go and was mad about it. It took an hour to load all her things into my car. When we went to leave my battery was dead so the son of the grandmother (the boyfriend lives with her) came and jumped my battery for me. Saturday when I went to drive my daughter to work a skinny tree was down across my driveway. My father took care of it before I could even son my son out to do what he could to pick up sticks or before my husband could get home from work to take care of it. Saturday evening my daughters and I went to my sisters house to visit. Sunday we got our first snow of the season. It was just light flurries and it didn’t stick but it still counts. I asked my daughter if her boyfriend had bothered her since they broke up he she said they were back together and only broke up for like an hour. She said they are back together with the rule that she is allowed to hang out with friends without him. Photo is of a Christmas decoration one of the employees made where my daughter works. These were probably 3-4 feet tall and there were ones they made they were about a foot tall.

That's neat that you have close connections to a thrift store. It sounds like a nice one, too.

@sallypup it’s about a half hour away and is beautiful inside. They are so kind there too everyone who works there and how much they help people in the community. We are lucky to have this in our town!

@TheHorse excellent song! I’m sad to say my husband broke up with me probably twice a year for many years and I always went back to him (before we were married). That didn’t set a very good example for our kids.

@shaggin Sigh. I'll comment with a song. I'm sure you know it.

So, are they broken up or not? And after you spent an hour clearing out her stuff are you supposed to bring it back?

@BarbaraPrz no I’m not taking it back. I had to pretty much unload it all into my house too because I could go shopping with it all in the back and she had to go to work . She will probably take it back to his house little by little so the grandma doesn’t complain. She said she is only going to be staying there when she doesn’t have to work the next day. She has Wednesdays and Sundays off.

Your daughter should think again and not get back there. He seems immature.

Nice decoration. Sounds like your daughter’s boyfriend needs to grow up she should be able to hang out with her friends without him.

Oh my goodness, you had to move all her things and now they are back together. You are right not to like that guy, he broke about a silly thing, he is childish.

@popciclecold it is neat the soldier they made as a decoration. There was another one on the opposite side of the stairs but it was a little different the colors. I am not glad they got back together I was hoping she would stay away from him.

Controlling behavior like that is a danger sign, so hopefully she was able to nip that in the bud.

@snowy22315 a long time back he “wanted to meet her friends” and about an hour later she texted me that they were back at his house. I thought then and told her that he didn’t want her hanging out with anyone else is why he wanted to go there and then brought her home. I’m not surprised at all to see he broke up with her because he couldn’t go hang out with them and expected her not to go. I wish she hadn’t gone back to him.

@sol_cee I liked her first two boyfriends but I do not like this guy at all. I tried to be nice to him and welcome him but he’s just awful and after him calling the police on us before my daughters graduation party he is no longer welcome here again. He did that to try to get my husband in trouble who he was mad at. He told the cops there would be underage drinking. All it did was hurt my daughter I think not us. He mad her cry over it before her party and I think put a damper on the whole day for her.

@oahuwriter my parents loved both my husbands they didn’t see how horrible they can be behind closed doors though. Since I don’t like her boyfriend I can only imagine how bad it could be that I don’t know about.

@crazyhorseladycx yes it can be tough to deal with. I try to remind myself how differently I thought as a teen. Teens brains aren’t fully developed yet they truly just don’t think the same logical way adults do. I hope she eventually ends things with him he’s an awful person.
