Banana Nut Bread To The Rescue

While out giving the birds fresh water this morning, I saw my neighbor out in his yard. Went over and talked a minute. He lost his sister from New York yesterday. He said he would not attend the funeral. He was just in NY a few months ago for his brother's funeral.
Thankfully last month he saw his sister in Memphis at a wedding. Her granddaughter was married. She was able to attend. In a wheelchair and many health issues. But she was there. The entire family have those memories and photos to hold onto.
I could tell he was sad. She was in her late 80's. Hard to lose your siblings, no matter the age. I came home and baked a loaf of banana nut bread. Just took it over to him. He was so happy. I hope it helped in some small way.
Had to use pecans this time instead of walnuts. Cannot find walnuts lately, at least at an affordable price. Crazy prices due to inflation. Hoping things get better soon.
Photo is mine.

@Juliaacv I have chills reading this again. I know you told me about your conversation. It just means so much to hear it again. You truly are a friend to me, never forget that.
Oh dear, chills again, but in a different way for your Grandpa. Reminds me of a Vince Gill song called, "Never Knew Lonely".

You made his day better, and that is something we should all try to do when we get the opportunity.

That was such a sweet gesture making banana bread for you neighbor. It's sad to lose anyone but for him to lose a brother and sister in such a short amount of time is heartbreaking.

@Marilynda1225 You are so right. I don't know of many others that would be what I did I suppose. Thank you for that reminder.
