Where Did My Strength Go

I'm not young anymore, though I try to tell myself I am. I swear the bottle companies are supergluing the caps on making it super hard to open and sometimes I need a pair of younger hands to open the bottle. Then this morning, I'm trying to peel oranges. It used to be so easy, but now I struggle to get them peeled. Little things that took one hand, now take two. I want my strength back. I don't like feeling feeble. Do you find things harder to do that once were easy? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

Oh I am discovering these things little by little now. I noticed jar lids are hard to open . . . I don't have that same grip to hold it and twist anymore .

@just4him I have been finding that if I do certain hand exercises, I can get that grip again, but I'd have to continue doing that in order to maintain a grip. I feel like as I get older, "strength" just leaves so quickly.

I don't have the grip either. It's annoying.

I am lucky to be still pretty strong, but those caps "safe for kids" are horrible to open.

@just4him The only ones I have a hard time opening are those "safe for kids" and the very big jars, because I have small hands.

Yes, now and then it is difficult to do certain things. Sometimes when a can is hard to open my hand starts hurting as I am cutting with the manual can opener,

I have had to slow down after my brain surgery. But lately I noticed my energy is returning. I space out what I do now.

Yes, as we grow older our reflexes and muscle strength diminish unless we exercise sufficiently to maintain them. For me, my problem is my deteriorating eyesight and likewise weakening muscles. It's natural and we could even go back to being a "baby", where someone must assist us in everything we do. I hope I will not grow that old.

In India even youngsters have to struggle opening bottles - they are so badly sealed.. There is physio therapy for strengthening hands.

Those medicine tops are the worst Sadly I have to rely on younger hands to open things for me too.

I know what you're talking about when it comes to bottle caps. I occasionally ask younger people to help me and enjoy it when they have a hard time, too.

I am not a fan of those child proof caps. Especially when I'm in pain. I just want to kick the bottle!
