Comfort Food On A Cold Night

United States
November 30, 2022 3:23pm CST
Something warm and nourishing on a cold night is what we're having for dinner tonight. I like Panera Bread but don't eat out often any more. The one thing I especially liked was their broccoli cheddar soup. Sams Club has a very similar soup which you buy in a container already made It's a heat and eat and delicious. All I do is add some extra broccoli, top it off with some croutons and presto we have a comfort food meal. What do you like on a cold day/night?

That sounds good. I don't know what I'll have tonight. It's a raw day with off-again-on-again flurries. It never got out of the 20s and the wind chill is in the single digits. We have a strong wind blowing. Something hot would be nice.

It's going to get really cold overnight here so I'm sure I'll be looking for something warm again tomorrow

Hot noodles do sound good on a cold night. Is it very cold where you are? @sallypup

@Marilynda1225 Your area sounds much colder than where I am. It's probably in the low 40s out with a little rain and wind coming in. East in my state, where I used to live- those poor darlings are covered in snow and ice. Not me.

I made a batch of Cheddar, broccoli and chicken soup a couple of days ago. I love it! (Walmart also carries that soup in a small cup. I bought it once but didn't find any broccoli in it. And that's why I make my own.) I really want mashed potatoes when I can't seem to get warm or if I'm not feeling the best. There's just something about them that makes me smile.

It's hearty and delicious. My daughter and I share a container so it's not an expensive meal either

I'll even eat soup during the warmer months but it's especially good on a cold day/night. If it gets as cold tomorrow as they are saying it might be a tomato soup, grilled cheese kind of day

@Marilynda1225 You are the second one to mention that. Jennifer was talking about ladies from the church making home made ones. I bet they are super good.

Pierogis make me think of my Aunt. She used to make them homemade and bring them for the holidays. They were so good and the holidays make me think of her even more than I do all year long.

That sounds very good. Running low on everything here because of the end of the month and have to wait until the 14th of December to get my SS and order groceries so I am eating whatever I have left like chicken nuggets and rice.

We tend to eat the same things all year around. There was s**w on the ground today. Meals on Wheels brought us beef stew today.

Chili and stew are some of my "go to" cold night meals too. I especially like when I have leftover chili and have it for lunch the next day

I read about what you are having. I would love some hot chocolate with marshmallows but I cant with the dang bladder issue. I had no idea that hot chocolate..cocoa has caffeine in it
