They Have Not Earned a Loyal Customer: Camping World

To say my experience with Camping World, from buying the camper to dealing with the service department, has been a nightmare is to put it lightly. Okay. Maybe I am being a bit overly dramatic. However, the bottom line for me is this. I will never buy another camper from Camping World, and I will do my level-headed best to avoid the service department. You know, the weird thing for me is that most of the time when you read reviews, and very few have been good regarding Camping World, you generally read them with a grain of salt. Only unhappy people are going to have something to say. But the fact is that bad reviews are overwhelming when it comes to Camping World, and as I encounter my own experience, I am seeing that the reviews are not only bad. They are genuine. I have had my camper in for "service," winterizing and a couple other line items, since November 26th and thus far not a single person from their service department has contacted me with an update. Or to request authorization for any other services that may be needed. Which suggests to me it may still be sitting there, untouched. I contacted them last week, via email because their phones apparently were not working to ask the status and was told that "a technician was being assigned and they would update me soon." This morning I called and was directed to a voicemail. I also sent an email getting nothing back and never received a call back. Only to call again and be told that "there is no one in the service department." So, for now, I have no update on the status of my camper, no idea when I will be able to pick it up, no idea what the cost of any repairs may be, and no idea if it is even being serviced. From sale to now I have quite a story to tell, and one that is too long to share here. So most likely that tale will be told via another outlet I write on from time to time, HubPages. I will keep it professional as I always do when I write these kinds of things. But it will also not be remotely favorable to Marcus Lemonis or Camping World. The saga continues.

You also have the Facebook outlet to air grievances on their page. In most businesses, challenging them on the Fb page seems to get results.

@porwest Yeah, but you might save someone else the heartbreak of finding out how bad they are if you put your story out there, too.

Considering all of the bad press they already have that stem over years, I am not sure they really care to be honest. lol

@DaddyEvil I hadn't thought of that, but you have a point.

Are you required by warranty to get your camper serviced there? If not, you might want to look somewhere else to get your service and repairs done in the future.

@porwest Have you had any follow up from them yet?

They just had an earlier opening for winterization, plus there were a couple of warranty issues. Otherwise I will certainly be going somewhere else for future service needs.

@moffittjc Yeah. They called to give me the rundown, but it will still be a week or so before I get it back.

I would hire a private investigator to go to where your RV is and take photos of what they doing or not doing.I mean how else are you going to know what they do? For real tho, I am so sorry they are carrying on like this..despicable.

Their customer relations suck. As harsh as it sounds, it's the only appropriate description of their service I can find that fits.

I don’t know if I’d stop at a Camping World if I had to pee, that’s how little I trust them.

That may be a good idea. Not sure how they are all set up, but in this one you can't get to the bathroom without having to get past all the sales people. lol

Can you request to pick it up and take it elsewhere for service? That's too long for any vehicle to sit untouched. They really don't care about you as the customer.

@porwest Yes, it is the principle of it.

I could. But it would be a bit impractical. I won't be needing it until spring so technically I am not in a hurry. It IS just the principle of it though.

I’m sorry they’re giving you a hard time. Can you remove your camper and take it somewhere else for servicing?

Eventually that will be the plan. This time they were the ones who get it in the earliest, which in hindsight seems not to be so much true. lol

I am sure we will, but it is the process, the lack of communication, and the lack of seeming to care about the customer's needs that troubles me on this one. Considering having been an admirer of Marcus Lemonis through his television show on CNBC, I expect WAY MORE than this from a company he owns.

Companies nowadays have all sorts of ways to actually avoid talking or even communicating with customers. Customer service is a great misnomer nowadays.

I m sorry that you are having such difficulties with Camper World. Since the pandemic, it seems many companies either don't have enough folks working for them now or have very under qualified ones. But since there are many bad reviews with this company it sounds as if they just don't run their business in a proper fashion.

I'm sorry it is such a sh!tshow. Years ago I had my Miata at the Mazda dealership for over a month but they were very good about keeping me updated on things. I missed my cute little car but I wasn't angry about the time it took to properly fix it.

How frustrating. There's nothing worse than bad customer service. Have a good week; and I hope you hear from them.

Too bad about the service. This happens way too often. I can only hope for improvement for your sake.
