Sweet corn and chicken soup

I was introduced to Chinese cuisine when my boss took me to a Chinese Restaurant along with his family. And it was the sweet corn and chicken soup that I started with.
And it was always a Chinese restaurant from then on whenever my husband and self wanted to eat out. We had several of those joints around. My colleagues and I also chose to eat at a Chinese restaurant whenever we planned an outing. Szechuan chicken was the only dish I did not like as it was too hot and spicy
I tried my hand in preparing some of the dishes and am quite good at making this soup.
Do you like Chinese food? Which dish is your favourite.?

@ifa225 You should look at my old discussions. I talk about a lot of food I like to cook.
Today I made chicken, onion and cabbage soup. It's good!

@allknowing I think there is a special ingredient that they added so the taste is different with another noodle

@allknowing crab soup is a very expensive dish here, perhaps because it is hard to catch it and need a big effort to cook it

This soup is easy to make and it also tastes very well. In fact the food from China can be quite different, it depends on which place it is. For example, Szechuan food is usually very spicy and hot. Guangdong food is light and sweet.

I love that soup! Szechuan cuisine was a favorite in my family in my childhood - we enjoyed hot and spicy (I still do but my stomach can't handle it as much now). We make all kinds of Chinese food at home . . . one of my favorites is mabo dofu made of ground pork and tofu - bit on the spicy side. Also won ton soup.

@allknowing There are different spicy condiments - normally I don't put the extras on besides what is already cooked into the dishes. Maybe the mapo dofu is a "home" food - maybe not something people typically order at restaurants.

Every kind of dishe can be made spicy with the tobasco sauce that one sees at every table in a Chinese restaurant. I have never used it. I cannot tolerate spicy stuff. I have not come across 'mabo dofu mentioned by you.

@JudyEv Not seen that. I am sure they must have been king sized prawns and now that I eat mostly veg food I will never get to taste it.

Must be different province dishes. Shrimp canton, from Chinese province Canton, so Cantonese cooking.

The soup has chicken shreds, sweet corn, corn flour, egg, mainly - nothing that will put off any one

I prefer going to a Chinese restaurant where you are sure to get 'unadulterated' dishes based on pure Chinese recipes.
