Pharmacy Horror Story

So, anyway I had mentioned my troubles this morning getting the med refill. When I got to the pharmacy, there was a major line, like about a 30 minute line. The poor pharmacist was working by herself, and I don't think she knew completely what she was doing. I never saw her working there before. They probably recruited her from the one in Richmond. Anyway, thankfully a young woman showed up who was a pharmacy assistant (not the regular one who kindly called in sick. (doubt it) helped out 100 percent, she ran the front so the pharmacist could concentrate on the med filling. Anyway, while in line I started talking to the young lady in front of me, and we talked about the difficulties with the weather and the pharmacy last year. (I think I am going to go mail order) Anyway, we were talking about the terrible time in the January big storm when the power was out for days. Mine was out for 4 days with extremely cold temps, and she said hers was out for 5 and her mother's was out for 8!!! She said some people couldn't get out of their driveways and had to resort to burning furniture to keep warm!!! OMG, this isn't war torn Ukraine...What the heck? If I had to do that, I would have sent the bill for replacement furniture to the power company. Anyway, FINALLY got the meds. They intially tried to overcharge but I complained so the pharm assistant mirculously produced a coupon to get the bill down. After this fiasco I am going mail order. Stay safe, and I hope you don't have any weather or pharmacy castrophes to deal with.

Going mail order doesn't solve your problems. It creates new ones. But, you do you. And I wish you the best of luck with it.

That is a pretty pessimistic way of looking at it. Worth a try I say

@snowy22315 Well, it's true. If you think about it. All the in-person problems you're having can still happen, only it's not happening in front of you. Then you have to worry about delays, or not being able to get the scripts at all. Just like with in-person. You're welcome to try it, but I was just being honest. Been there done that.

I never tried mail order for pharmacy. Our pharmacy can deliver if we cannot go there, but it is so close, I always walk there, I did even in the snow.

This one is about a 15 minute drive away. Luckily, there is a fast road to get there, otherwise it would take longer.

Going by mail order to get my medicines from the pharmacy in my opinion is the best option.

@Deepizzaguy Well, if it is so close, I would just go there. Mine is about 5 but it is located in the grocery store for this area so it is pretty convenient. You can get your meds and milk at the same time.

@snowy22315 It works for me since the pharmacy is about three miles from my current home.

This is terrible, more than one staff member should always be working in the pharmacy department! Kroger's pharmacy it was terrible, we'd wait for medication. Then, their machine rejected my debit card payment! I ended up writing a check, I usually don't do this.

@snowy22315 Those big businesses couldn't care less about people, or the needs of their customers. The employees are simply tools, to make them more money!

I get all my meds through the mail. Our temperature was 14 degrees today, probably lower now. Stay safe in all this cold weather.

@RubyHawk What seems to happen here alot is a storm or bad weather ends and once it is nice again the power goes off.

Those poor cold folks. I loved our last house and property and yet I knew I was getting to the point of not liking being isolated due to a snowed up long driveway road and icy roads. Anything could have happened to us out there.

Yes, there wasn't much else to do. I talked to one as well, while I was waiting who was telling me about a great mail order med service.
