A bath tub or shower bath?

I just had a shower bath which I consider to be a good exercise - bending, turning and what have you all done standing A bath tub bath on the contrary is a place one relaxes and there is no guarantee that the bath tub has been sanitized especially in hotels. I have travelled a lot and have stayed in 5 star hotels. The toilets and all around is taped giving an indication that the workers have cleaned them all using disinfectants and that is what those who occupy the room are expected to believe But I have never believed it and so carried my own dettol disinfectant and used it before using the bathroom I do not use the bath tub but the moment I enter there I call up and ask for a bucket and mug. I am not sure if there are showers there. What is your take on this? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hotel_Suite_-_Bath_tub.jpg Image Credit:

I worked for several years as a desk clerk in a motel. I know the housekeepers there really did use disinfectant and cleaned tubs and toilet before banding them. I've seen them cleaning the rooms. In another hotel/motel, we only used the shower, not the tub, and only after I'd sprayed the tub and toilet myself and wiped them down.

@allknowing Yes, you're right and that's why I always cleaned out bathroom myself when we went other places.

I'm a shower person. I truly just hate baths. Feel like I'm basically sitting in my own dirt! I haven't taken a bath in years, only showers. When doing a hotel I always check it out...wipe down the remote, the doorknobs, spray the bathroom with Lysol. Yes, I'm weird. I check for bedbugs, too. I've never found any, but I have seen TV programs and news articles about bedbugs being found even in 5 star hotels, so I look.

@allknowing Unfortunately, some people just are not very clean. I'm not spotless, but I sure don't want bedbugs!

My mother always carried a little spray bottle of cleaner that she would use as soon as we would walk into our hotel room. The filth she would show us on the cleaning rags was disgusting. I take a shower not a bath.

Even in homes there is no guarantee the one who used it previously would have left it spotlessly clean

@allknowing I clean the tub so I know how clean it is. It’s not clean enough often enough.

I also never take the bathtub in a hotel, I used the shower. I feel it's not safe for there are so many users come and go.

I think I prefer the tub one. I can stay and nap there. I don't fancy the shower bath one.

I occasionally take a bath tub bath at home, but never in hotel due to hygienic concerns.

I agree 100% with you. One can never be assured of cleanliness and sanitazation. Best to avoid exposing oneself or as you say sanitzing yourself.

We have one bathroom with a shower and the other with a bath tub at home. Usually I take a shower in the morning and a bath in the evening before going to sleep. At the hotels I only use the shower.

Twice a day? Is that really necessary?

@allknowing In summer it is necessary because I work outside. During winter the morning shower is anyway necessary and I take the bath before going to sleep because it warms me up. It's cold here in winter.

I generally use the shower simply because I rarely have baths, even at home. But the bath tub is easy to clean and obvious too, so I imagine it is probably cleaned by the housekeeping staff. It's all the less conspicuous places that are worse - have you ever picked up the telephone in a room and looked at the buttons?

I too like bathing with a bucket and a mug. I don't use a shower as my skin is soft and it hurts.
