We are turning back this evening. Dixie is in a big war.

I hope later Dixie will have time to whatsapp the photos she took here. As it is, she is now in the middle of a war with lots of ants that are in the kitchen. I am in my bedroom and would not dare come near her. She is blaming Humberto because he made the scrambled eggs (delicious with Serrano ham) for breakfast. I don´t want to be near if she discovers that I left a crumb on the table The prblem with ants is the usually we lose the battles. They are more intelligent than us and they have bigger armies. Fortunatly I have never had ants inside my house in the 25 years that I live there. I have them in the terrace, but they don´t go inside. I don´t hate ants too much but maybe it is because they know their boundaries. I have had ants in other houses and there is no way of killing them all. What are your worst enemies? Bugs, I mean, don´t talk about your children

We fight a war with ants at the beginning of every Spring. We win but they try again the next Spring.

I have reached a truce with ants. They have the terrace (with Luna) and the house is mine.

@marguicha We have a walnut tree that grows right outside the kitchen window. The ants invade until Pretty sprays that tree to kill ants and we don't see them again until the next Spring.

I have never seen bedbugs, thanks be given. I have heard that some people have had to burn pieces of furniture.

@wolfgirl569 I have heard that there are bed bugs in some places in this city, but not where I live.

@marguicha We did throw the bed out but it needed replaced anyways. Now I spray every few weeks just to be safe

Ants only come inside in early spring, but they stay in a corner, they are not my worst enemies. I hate mosquitoes, if I could I would exterminate them all.

@LadyDuck In the mountains there were lots of ants everywhere. They found a lot in their closet after I wrote this post. I think that it is because their daughters leave some used clothes there. Ants might love human perspiration. I, myself, wash every garment before I put the clothes away for the other season. I don´t have ants but moths might make their homes in unclean clothes.

I don´t have mosquitoes nearby but I did when my parents had a fountain at the garden. If the water was not running all the time, mosquitos would breed.

@marguicha There were almost no mosquitoes here in the past and we had those that only annoy people after the sunset. Now we have those horrible mosquitoes that also bite during the day.

Thankfully, we don't have too many pests here. I do hate cockroaches but we rarely see them.

I have one once in a while. But what bit me must have been a poisonous spider. Worse than Dixie´s ants.

@marguicha Much worse. I hope the bite is clearing up now. I know you have some medications for it.

As you know, I hate ants. They always seem to want to crawl on me. Yikes! We get them every year! You might tell Dixie to get some Terro. The ants take it back to the nest; and that usually kills the ants for that season.

@LindaOHio I´ll check it. I have a very good powder against ants but there are places where I don´t dare use it because of Luna.

@marguicha It's the only thing we found that helps. I hope you can buy it there or something similar.

I don´t have mosquitos near my house. And we have middle sized roaches than only once in a while get into the house. I put so much Raid over them that I am not sure if the pesticide kills them or if they drown.

@Beestring The Raid for spiders and roaches is stronger than the one for mosquitoes and flies.

Ants can sometimes arrive in big numbers and suddenly if some food items get accumulated or thrown away accidentally in kitchen or other places. However with proper cleaning in between, they can be under the check. Fron what I hear and see, Cockroaches look quite nasty! They seem to be spreading a lot of germs and can spring up in many dark corners. Best of luck to Dixie too !

Yesterday she was very angry. I don´t blame her. But when she started to say that Humberto was getting in the way, I fled. And so did Humberto

Mosquitoes and wood roaches are a problem here. We have a lot of wetlands around us, and the mosquitoes love it. The wood roaches usually stay outside as there isn't much for them in the house, but when she sees one indoors, my missus shrieks at a volume and pitch that stuns them long enough for me to dispatch them. We do get ants, but the ant baits we use take care of them in a day or two.

I´d do the same with roaches. I loath them although I know they are harmless. But they are gross.

In the mountains she has had several battles with bugs. I remember once, years ago, that we arrived and the floor had a carpet of big moths everywhere. We had to begin our holiday by sweeping the whole house while Humberto sprayed what we had already swept.

We had an AWFUL summer with ants this year! We had to have someone over to spray twice, and I don't know that it did much good. The exterminator said that it was a bad year with ants all over town.

My grandma said that if there were too many ants in summer, we must expect a harsh winter.

I live near a small lake. In the summer it truly attracts mosquitoes and it's hard to sit outside in the evenings, they chew me to bits. I spray the patio area and have some citronella candles and that helps, too.

@marguicha Mosquitoes seem to just love me. I have to use a deterrent of some kind to be able to sit out there on a summer evening.
