Do you know what this is?

The photo above is a Prosperity Bowl. And fun fact, Filipinos are big in making their own Prosperity Bowl for New Year’s Day. This holiday season, my FB exploded with photos of prosperity bowls or lucky bowls put together by people to ‘help bring more money into one’s life’. It is a collection of lucky objects like rice grain, eggs, laurel leaves, gold coins and money bills arranged in feng shui style or something. I heard there was a shortage of gold coins sold online. And eggs doubled in price. Surely, businessmen earned a lot during the holidays. I made one too but I firmly believe that prosperity takes hard work and effort. How about you? Photo made me laugh.

@sol_cee There's a nanny-cam watching the prosperity bowl so they can see who takes what from the bowl. Oh, that's funny!

Lol what usually happens with the prosperity bowl is that some people (not the owners) would take the money away or steal them or pocket them so to prevent that from happening the owner put a very helpful device on the table. Can you tell me what device that is?

I've seen one before but had no idea what it was... Very interesting. I supposed the fewer of those someone made, the richer they would actually be? Did you find Reine okay? I wish she had time to visit myLot more often.

@sol_cee I don't remember where I saw it before. I don't have any girlfriends right now... and probably won't have any again. She ignored you or she hasn't come back to myLot yet?

It is not actually Filipino tradition but adapted Chinese tradition which we love to imitate and sometimes they become more like ours but in fact its not. I also saw some videos about how you make of it but we did not do it but I am impressed with how they do it.

@sol_cee I did not ask because I was sure it was something to bring good luck for the New Year. We also have "symbols" we place on the New Year's table.

@sol_cee We're usually away for New Year but there isn't really a custom of putting anything special on the table.

Your profile photo is very similar to that of some Thai's actresses (the pretty ones of course ). Those gold coins are just milk chocolate gold coins aren't they? (I used to buy lots ages ago for my kids.) - The moment I saw some rolled notes, then rice, eggs, I thought right at once of some rituals, something to wish for luck & wealth - perhaps for the New Year celebration? (So my guess was not too bad heh!)

@sol_cee Hey, I am not that prosperous as you to have money to prepare anything! I am too lazy to do anything seriously! I went out a few days before that, bought plenty of takeaways, put them all in the fridge and told my family members to help themselves. But on NYE, I cooked some fancy chicken dish for the cats (and the humans can share too of course). The cats (2YO) are soooo in heaven eating those yummy pieces of chicken (in sweet & sour sauce, from the store!). Other than that, NOTHING, (unless you count a box of calypso mangoes which was on special sale as good enough?)

I know I saw this recently on Shavkat's post! I have not seen this in person - have not hung out with the Phil friends for New Year's before . How long is that kept for? Looks like someone is guarding their Prosperity Bowl here .
I tried my best to limit myself using digital devices for months. However, I joined some earning sites and explored them out. Now, I am back and ready to mingle...
