14 January - What I'm Thankful for Today

What do you think about when someone asks if you're thankful and what you're thankful about? I ask because yesterday, even though I had a rough day with my rib, I was still thankful and I mentioned what I was thankful for in my post. Yet, it seemed most of the responses dealt with my pain and not what I was thankful for. I'm a thankful person and don't focus on the bad things in my life, even when they happen. I try to find the silver lining in everything. So, even though my rib is still sore -
I'm thankful I can sit here and type today without much pain to aggravate the rib.
I'm thankful I can walk the hall circuit in the building and have done so many times today with my walker.
I'm thankful for the sleep I got last night. My rib did not bother me too much and I got seven hours of sleep. I also slept in my bed and not the recliner, which I thought I might need to do.
My rib is getting better, but it will take six weeks to heal. I'm thankful for every day that it feels a little better than the day before and doesn't hinder what I need to do.
What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. The latest picture of my amaryllis.

Those are good things to be thankful for. Especially with winter on us. It's good to have a warm home. I hope your pain is less today.

@just4him "Leash manners" depends on the dog and sometimes its breed. It depends on how much work you want to put into a dog. I went through two obedience classes with Sally plus one on one time with folks who know dogs before she finally came out knowing how to cooperate on the leash. Most of the work had to do with me. I had to learn her language. Through those days I learned enough to teach Leah dog and Annie and now I deal with Rufus. I have tons of trouble on stairs. For my safety any dog with me when I am trying to get up or down stairs MUST know the word wait. Just that word "wait." Rufus's breed is one who likes to work with humans so he easily learned that word and stays out of my way when I am working slowly up or down. Even on curbs. He stays out of my hair.

@sallypup That's good he does. I'm praising God I don't need to deal with stairs unless I want to as I can use them or the elevator to get to the community room in the underground parking garage. Otherwise, I'm on the first floor. No stairs are necessary.

I am thankful for the power of prayer dealing a person who acts like they know everything about their favorite comic book characters and use insults to describe my lack of knowledge of the updated version of their favorite characters in today's pop culture.
I blocked that person from social media for being rude online.

I am like you and try not to focus on the bad thing in life, and even when something is bad, like you, I try to find the silver lining. Because as I always say, my greatest thanks is simply to be alive to endure whatever comes my way. Good or bad.

I am very glad you are seeing some improvement. It's very taxing to be in pain all the time, I know. As for what I am thankful for today, it would have to be friends and family. Knowing they care means everything.
I do hope you continue to improve. You have the best, positive attitude, with that, a person can go far.

Things are just things, but people who care are the most important of all.
