And here we thought my husband’s day was bad

Monday morning the baby and I came downstairs after she woke up. My husband was sitting on the bench and I asked why he was still here. He told me we had run out of oil and he had to go to town a few times buying kerosene to put in our oil tank. Before he realized we were out of oil he made a sandwich to take to work. He had it on the table when he looked and saw how cold the house was. While he was getting the oil put in the tank outside the cat ate his sandwich. He thought his day was going bad until he got to work and found out a coworker had slipped on ice, broke 4 ribs and punctured his lung. My sister thought her pipes froze but it turns out the line from the toilet to the septic were clogged bad. When my sisters boyfriend worked on it he got poo and feminine product waste on him. Looks like it was a rough day for many people and my husbands day definitely wasn’t as bad as others. I am very thankful my husband noticed how cold the house has gotten and put oil in it for us so when we woke up the house was warmed back up already. It’s always nice to give him a hug and kiss before work and for him to see the baby before he goes. He usually leaves an hour before we get up. I felt bad for him and made him some frosting filled chocolate chip cookies. The photo is the toys I got Monday at the thrift store my daughter works at. All the toys were 50% off so I got all this for only $6.75.

@Daddyevil he didn’t get upset at the $979 fuel oil bill when it was delivered today either. I am going to give her them for Valentine’s Day. I usually don’t like to give used for gifts but she’s little and won’t know and moneys tight.

@shaggin No use in getting upset over a necessity. You have to stay warm. I understand. I don't give used as a gift, either. But you're right, she won't notice and will love them all.

@DaddyEvil he’s been irritable the past few days so I’m thinking he’s worried about money. His truck is at the shop still and will be $3600 to fix.

That's great about those cute toys. Frosting filled chocolate chip cookies? Um..... Friday the 13th for a bunch of folks that live near you for sure.

@sallypup this is the second time I made this recipe. They were delicious the first time but fell flat and the frosting seeped out. I added a half cup flour this time around and they came out better. My husband finished up the last one last night. It wasn’t a Friday all this happened on though it was a Monday. Bad start to the week for a few people.

@popciclecold I’m glad it made you laugh but I’m sure my husband didn’t get a chuckle out of it . With the cost of that meat I wasn’t happy about it but nothing you can do after the fact.

Oh my goodness, the one who had the worst day was your sister's boyfriend. A reminder to your sister never to throw feminine products in the toilet.

@Fleura - There is a clear sign in all public toilet room, they always place a special bin/trash where to get rid of those things.

@LadyDuck Here too - but at home of course there is no special disposal bin and no special hygiene company to collect and dispose of the contents, so people do whatever they think best.

@jstory07 the blocks I paid for a bag of them a few week ago for $4. I had been looking for them at thrift stores for awhile so was so excited when I saw them. When there was one bag left and 50% off I had to get them.

That's awful about the coworker slipping on ice and breaking four ribs and puncturing his lung. I wonder how long he will be hospitalized.

Not a good day for several people. I'm glad your husband noticed how cold it was and put oil in the tank. I'm sorry the cat ate his lunch. You did well at the thrift store.

@just4him thankfully it was warm when I woke up and I had a good day. I was lucky my husband noticed how cold it was before he left or our pipes could have frozen. They were giving away little treat bags of candy when I went as well but I forgot to include that in the photo.

@spiderdust ugh I know I felt terrible for him My first husband was a plumber and at one job he was working on someone’s toilet and the sewer pipe burst and he got covered head to toe in feces. He came home and I made him undress outside and we burned his clothes.

@Kandae11 oh my gosh if I went to the trouble of making a cake and the dog ate it I would be so upset. My husbands lab ate a whole package of fresh meat he had shaped into hamburgers. They were on the table while the grill warmed up and when we went back in to get them they were all devoured. If he leaves her in the truck with groceries after shopping and having to run into another store she will get into the food and eat it. She really likes raw meat.

@allknowing yep he felt that way too when he got to work and heard what happened to his co-worker. My husband was only late to work this man has been out of work all week from it and I’m not sure when he will be going back. The cookies are all gone now. I want to make something with overripe frozen bananas we have but we have no eggs left. My husbands truck is supposed to be finished tonight so then I can finally after two weeks go get groceries again tomorrow. We are out of so many staples it’s hard coming up with meals.

@allknowing I leave them on the counter but if they get overripe I freeze them and use them in smoothies or muffins etc. I had one in a smoothie today which I haven’t had in a few months.

@Marilynda1225 I was very thankful to wake up to a warm house. We got lucky the baby slept until after 7 or that wouldn’t have been the case. Someone else mentioned the Friday the 13th. I don’t recall ever having anything of significance go wrong on a real Friday the 13th when I think about it.
