Have you ever been near a Crocodile?

I went to the zoo once and there was a section for reptiles; serpents, lizards, and crocodiles. etc.. I watch a crocodile the length-2.5 meters. I was petrified when the crocodile opened its mouth. What really scared me were its teeth and that reminded me of a story I read known as the most horrific story of all time. in which one thousand men were eaten alive while crossing a river during WW11. It was scary

I've only seen them in a zoo and on my plate when I was a teenager. Mom bought crocodile meat at the grocery store. It was delicious!

I´ve seen them at the zoo and in the wild. The ones a saw were big-2 or 3 meters. I´ve never eaten crocodile meat. It must be considered exotic food. I imagine it is very nutritious too

@quantum2020 Crocodiles are cousins to chickens and the meat tastes similar to me.

@DaddyEvil I didn´t know that. I must be thinking about buying crocodile meat the next time. Chicken is the meat I most eat at present. After eating crocodile for the first time, I may probably change my meat preference

Whenever I go to the zoo when I was younger, I made sure not to be up close and personal with a croc.

I just used to watch them through those big crystal windows. If it were not for the windows, I would have run away in fright. I know they can act rapidly when near a prey

@cherriefic You can always get away from them if you´re not closer than 4 meters. You will give you a chance to run

Never a crocodile but a alligator and huge difference. Crocodiles are ancient and they much scarier than alligator. Get bigger and way more mean. Alligators have fear crocodiles do not. They have seen the world since the beginning of time, why would they be scared?

@quantum2020 They both nothing to play with crocodiles in day compared to alligator is amazing and you will see why there is such a difference.

I read that alligators and crocodiles belong to the same family but they are different. While crocodiles live in warm regions and waters, alligators can strive in fresh waters. What I saw at the zoo might have been a crocodile and what saw in the wild might have been an alligator. both of them were huge animals

Yes, they are. I also only have watched them at the zoo. There are places in the wild where one can see crocodiles in that far distance

@sjvg1976 I will do too. I´ve read that they are very quick at hunting in and out of the water. I would not risk being near them

I once visited a park where one could watch the crocodiles in the wild. I remember in the distance a huge crocodile so big in a swamp that really scared me

I have, but only in a zoo sitting - not in a crocodile's real environment. There are some terrifying true stories about encounters with them . . . nope, I don't want to be a part of that !

I understand. Being near a crocodile is something that no one would like to experience. The closest I´ve been was a few meters but the crocodile was behind a thick crystal at the zoo

It´s better not to see them too close. Crocodiles act very fast when catching a prey. I was in a park once, One could see the crocodiles in the wild and there was no protection just signs that announced; ¨Don´t approach the crocodiles.¨

I haven´t read about it. No wonder an animal does that. This world is changing and so is consciousness. I have known that a dog saves someone from dying but never a crocodile. It's a wonderful story .to know

Every zoo must have some crocodiles on its premises. In the region, I live, they're not very common but in those places close to the beach where the habitat used to be an estuary, crocodiles can still be seen in the wild. Sometimes, they would attack people who get on their premises

Yes. There are crocs and gators in the Everglades in Florida, and we saw quite a few of them on an airboat ride. (The difference in a croc and a gator is one has a flat nose and the other has a pointy nose, but I’m not about to stick around and compare them if I see one in the wild!! ) I’ve also seen them in “gator zoos” in Florida. I’ve never stumbled upon one the way some people have on golf courses or finding one in their swimming pool, however.

I´ve read about those stories in Florida. I think it´s very common for people who live close to the Everglades to have encounters with gators. I watched a TV show the other day; the Police were trying to catch a crocodile that had entered the swimming pool in a house. They had a hard time trying to catch the creature; fortunately, the crocodile was caught and placed in the everglades again That was a good ending. Since there are many gators in Florida, I guess this story is going to repeat again
