Goodnight & Day 20 of Health Journey

It's almost 1 A.M. and I am tired, so I think I will get some sleep very soon. I know I have been on carbs the past couple days, which is not supposed to be a part of my journey. However, I am trying to make this last forever...so it is always going to be a work in progress. I'll try different things till I get it right. I need to add working out back into my schedule. I should have this past week but I didn't have much energy. I should try the intermittent fasting more, but it is difficult when my last meal is at 8 PM. Guess I could always skip that meal. I'll think about it. I always know what to do, and what I would like to do...but when I sit down to a meal that is low carb I sometimes just don't want to eat it. That's one of the biggest struggles. So yes, I had another carb day, and tomorrow most likely will be too. Then on Monday I will at least fast till noon, and maybe workout in the morning. What do you think? I just hope I don't gain a bunch by Monday morning. Do you have trouble sticking to a diet, or certain way of eating if you do that?

I don't do diets. I eat what I want when I want. It is sad that you have these health issues. Maybe the fasting will be of help. Keep the system going well.

@celticeagle I can make it to noon without eating pretty easy. It's not eating at night I would struggle with lol

Well you are lucky in that way. I will always have to try to lose weight....or at least work to not gain. The fasting I think does work, just never done it long enough...

If there is a way to try to diet, I have probably tried it over the years. The method I use now is self-governed, it seems to work for me. I realize it won't work for you, as I am not diabetic. I do have to say, skipping meals does not help me at all. If I skipped my evening meal, then I would be prowling the kitchen at 2AM and eating things I shouldn't be eating. I just do a lot better spacing out the meals and once I've had the meal I am good to go until the next one, for the most part.

Well, what's to say it won't work? I don't even know what it is lol. I know that low carb works, it is just me finding foods I actually want to eat so I can stick to it. Going to try to cook lots of bacon tomorrow to eat throughout the week, that'll help. Well sorry skipping meals don't work for you. I could go pretty long in the day without eating. I like to eat at night is my problem. Going to try to only eat between noon and 8 PM for now.... But fasting is good for health and weight loss and all that

@MarieCoyle That is understandable. I take meds, but they don't have to be taken with food. Even though they are for diabetes. You may have mentioned the calories thing....not sure. I think I did lower fat back when I lost 75 pounds, but again I was working out 3 hours a day, 7 days a week. Well that is good you like the veggies and salads and stuff. Eating just meat and cheese, etc....I do get full pretty quick. I can eat way under 1200 calories pretty easy on low carb...

@MommyOfEli2013 I can't fast for that long. I'm not diabetic, but I do have a health condition that requires medications, and in turn, the meds require taking with some food, so there's that. I may have mentioned that I set a calorie limit and that's what I go by. I do try somewhat for low-fat options, and I do love my vegetables, salads, and fruits, which is part of that, and I know you said you would not eat them, so that's why I said I didn't think it would work for you. I just try to balance out the calories per meal. I also know that vegetables and fruits help me feel full, so I don't want to snack, which in my case was one of my downfalls. I have heard intermittent fasting does help some people; I just can't do that right now due to the meds. I do agree eating at night can be very tempting! I try to avoid it if at all possible, once in a while I cave and make skinny pop popcorn, but not very often.

I don't have diet as of this moment. I don't want to shock my body. I am doing slow by stretching every morning.

I usually don’t eat past 7 pm. It has been a difficult journey, but i have no choice but to stick with my low carbs. I’m diabetic and don’t want to take medication for it. Good luck. You can do it.

That is good to not eat past then. I may not eat past 5 in the future, and have my first meal around noon. Low carb is the best to do for us....

@MommyOfEli2013 Processed carbs are addictive. My hubby is diabetic, too. He has not been eating much due to feeling crummy for way too long. He does eat carbs but carbs like brown rice, canned beans, banana. He is staying away from processed stuff like cookies. I ate a little Keto ice cream today and now I am super thirsty and have a sickly sweet taste in my mouth- 6.50 for a pint of that stuff! Not doing that again and lots more in the carton.

@sallypup Well I don't like any other kind of carbs, don't like rice, beans, fruits, etc... For me it is potatoes, pasta, etc.... Well a lot of things claiming to be keto aren't really. The breads, and ice creams and stuff still raise my sugar. If I want ice cream will make my own out of protein shake.

When I have days where I eat carbs, yeah.... But that won't change. I am trying to have less carb days though.

@MommyOfEli2013 I think that helps diet-wise. A big meal in the evening puts on more weight I think.

@LindaOHio It could, I am not really sure. I have read that larger lunch and smaller dinner are good for that. Also, eating only 1 or 2 meals a day and doing intermittent fasting. I am going to try to get down to 2 meals a day
