Praise God, I'm Home

It's snowing and slippery. Driving in the dark to my doctor's appointment before daybreak was a nightmare. I slid once and my heart went into my throat. I wasn't driving above 20 MPH the entire way to the hospital where my appointment was. The drive home was a little better because it was daylight, but still very slippery. So, the news from the doctor - I have a compression fracture in the L1 and L2 vertebrae. He's setting me up for an MRI and with the Endocrinologist because I have severe osteoporosis. So, my thought that this would be the first and last appointment with pain management is not going to happen. I'll be seeing him again, but only as necessary. He was happy I already started therapy. He also knows that anything they propose will be without needles. And no steroids as I can't have them, they give me chest pains. So, that's the news. Now, I'm going to calm down, finish the notifications, and work on a book. Then go to Canasta at 12:15. How is your day? Is anything exciting happening? How's your weather? I will say this was the worst I've ever driven in because it was dark at the outset. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. I won't be building any more snowmen.

I'm glad you got home safely on those slippery roads. I hate driving when the weather is bad as I've had a few close calls. Maybe that's why I say I hate snow so much. Sorry to hear that you have compression fractures but hopefully they'll be able to help you. No wonder you've been in so much pain.

@just4him hope the MRI gives you answers and it's something easily treated

Thank you. I will always love winter, but every appointment from now on will be during daylight hours. I understand many people don't like winter because driving can be treacherous. I know I prayed the whole way there and back. Thank you. I've been set up with an MRI this morning to find out all that's going on.

I just scheduled the MRI and follow-up with pain management. No, never a dull moment. My heart was in my throat all the way there and home.

@DianneN I've had one other scary moment when the kids were little and they were with me in the van. I slid through the intersection all the way across into the parking lot on the opposite side of the road when I tried to turn. It didn't go so well. At least the restaurant had a flat surface and not a ditch. Where I ended up. No one was hurt.

Oh that's awful. Your scary drive brings back memories of my driving to get my hubby from work then creeping home down a slippery country road. Thank God you are home in good shape. I'm sorry about your back. No needles for me, either. Hugs.

@just4him When you put your foot on the brake and the car doesn't stop but goes sideways, takes you to a whole other place. I'm glad you are home in one piece.

@sallypup Yes, it does. I'm glad I wasn't going too fast and could control the slide. Thank you.

I've read your accounts of getting him and how much you dreaded it. It's good you don't need to do that anymore. Thank you. I was very happy to pull into the parking space, turn off the car, and get inside my apartment. Then I could really relax.
