Here's another of my editions of unusual, odd and interesting facts. Since we are now into winter, I thought this information about "icebergs" might be appropriate. And if you're suffering from those winter blues a momentary distraction and some fun reading might provide some entertainment too...
Most of us are aware of icebergs and how dangerous they can be to ships from watching or hearing about the famous Titanic sinking in 1912 off the coast of Newfoundland. I've never seen an iceberg, but it was educational to learn and discover some fascinating facts about them.
Here are 5 fun/amazing facts about icebergs:
*PENGUINS AND ICEBERGS
-Do you like Penguins? Did you know those cute tuxedo mammals leave a "unique marking" on the icebergs they visit "Nearly 2 percent of icebergs in the Antarctic are made up of penguin pee."
*ICEBERGS CAN BECOME VERY LARGE
-In 1956 an Iceberg discovered in the South Pacific measured 208 miles long and 60 miles wide. This Iceberg was larger than the country of Belgium!
*AN ICEBERG'S COLOR CHANGES WITH TIME
-The white color of the iceberg indicates its young age. It turns blue or green as it ages, as the air in it is partially replaced by water droplets.
*THE LIFE SPAN OF AN ICEBERG
-Once the iceberg turns blue in color it can last up to 3-6 years. Of course, if it drifts into warmer waters, it will melt away sooner.
*WHERE ICEBERGS ORIGINATE AND THEIR NUMBER
-In the north they break off mostly from Greenland and number around 40,000 each year.
Hope you enjoyed those fun facts about icebergs. It sure would be fun to view one from a distance. Have you ever seen one?

@dgobucks226 Besides the animals known as penguins is the Batman villain known as The Penguin who is underrated as a villain compared to the Joker.

Thank you! Learning can be a lifetime pursuit if you open your mind to it
I've only seen Penguins at an Aquarium or Theme Park.
Cool Penguin facts:
A group of penguins in the water is called a raft but on land they're called a waddle! ...
Penguins poop every 20 minutes. Nasty! Aquarium workers have a lot of cleanups to do...
Penguins are flightless birds. Their flipper wings make them expert divers! And great for fishing.

@Deepizzaguy Oh yes, good one! I forgot I did see a Penguin on the Batman series, lol. The Joker was a hard villain to follow, but I liked the Penguin too.

@dgobucks226 Icebergs can be seen on places where water keeps flowing in summer and therefore they have to be formed from fresh water. The fact about penguins are interesting and funny.

Very interesting post. Especially the penguin and pee stuff. I wonder if there is a specific purpose for which these ice bergs were created by god. If global warming is true (which I believe it to be), then soon Greenland would have no icebergs to release. Then what would happen to that purpose... and in any event, if oceans have more water....they will encroach land....or would they rush towards Antarctic?

Ha, ha. Guess those icebergs have a stinky smell don't they. And Penguins poop every 20 minutes. Nasty!
Aquarium workers have a lot of cleanups to do...
Yes, climate change is one of those hot topics of debate today. With scientists split on how severe that change really is... Seems a changing climate is a fact of life. We must be diligent in using reasonable approaches to combat it.
As to how God created the planet and the remarkable phenomena like icebergs which become a part of this world only God knows for sure why.
Anyway, enjoy these additional facts. Sharing information is creating new knowledge.
