A good initiative... some positive news

Good afternoon from this side of the planet.
. It's time for my afternoon power nap but for some reason I am not sleepy or tired. So,I would just rest my feet and do some bit of mylotting. If I feel tired, I would sleep for a while.
News these days are full of negativity and propagandas. So, when your eyes catch some positive news here and there, it's refreshing. For sports lover, our Indian women team has won Unde 19 World Cup Tournament
.
And now when I picked up my phone to mylot, this news flashed on the screen as a breaking news
. It's a great initiative by the government and I am sure that people will welcome it. Students have to teach five illiterate people to make them literate and earn extra credits. Not only will it increase the literacy rate of the country, it's a great way to instill social responsibility in young adults. That would be a great way to build their character and make them socially responsible.
Well, how well it's executed and how successful it has been can be evaluated few years down the lane after the implementation. We stay positive and keep our fingers crossed.
Here is the link to the full news.
Have a great time in your Mylot corner

Oshy ...I have been to one of the African countries...Zambia. Unlike India, the Brits did not do much there... like building railways, establishing schools and universities, and hospitals. But they have more literate population than us. They also have more discipline than us.

@vandana7 We had the oldest universities in the World. And our ancient scriptures tell a lot about the advanced civilization we were. Various invasions and colonization did bring few modern things but robbed us of so much more. We paid a huge price. Most of the current issues are because of the modern education system introduced by British. They wanted clerical jobs for us, inclusion, innovation... what was in our advanced ancient education was replaced by one size fit all. Education became more of information feeding than information generating.

It's great initiative. Now every child in India has to go to school under Right to Education. But many adults missed the opportunity when they were young. This would open some new doors of opportunities for them. Literacy and numeracy makes life a bit easier.

That is awesome. It is needed. I think elderly folks like us should also be taught how to use latest techniques like UPI. In fact, there should be dummy UPI learning packages....so that people learn how to install and use the contemporary tools.

Yes, many would appreciate it. Younger ones in family are not interested to do it with their own elderly folks. But this kind of credit might motivate them

Now, the situation is different.Every child has to go to school under RTE ( Right to Education). It's getting better with each day.
This initiative is mainly for adults who missed the basic education due to whatever reasons..they get s chance to learn literacy and numeracy to live a better life.

@arunima25 I remember when many years ago in Italy we had many adults who could not read. Then school became mandatory, and it was a good thing that someone did something to help poor children to have an education. We cannot mention his name anymore, he made one thing wrong and he is considered a criminal now... those who lead the country now are not better.

@LadyDuck He did a great service to the society and country. His wrong deed has defamed his image, but he should be rightfully given the credit for the huge step that he took. I am sure that such initiatives help the society and country in many ways.

@Adie04 I do that too from time to time. There have been weekends where I have slept for two hours. Well, any nap more than an hour is actually a sleep and not nap

Yes, it's a great initiative. Some would do out of willingness while others would do it to get the credits. But then it would be a good experience for everyone and every youth will pick some social responsibility. I hope that it is implemented well and brings the desired results.
