Bare Legs - A Problem ?

Seems like the problem lay with whose legs are being bared.
Listening to a morning radio show I heard a complaint from a man who says he was denied entry to an establishment because he was wearing shorts - dress shorts he claims.
He was told ( l find this amusing) that if he so desired, long pants were available for rental..
The man left and went back three days later - fully clothed. He feels however that men are not being treated fairly because women were allowed to enter the same building wearing skirts a few inches above the knees.
" What's the difference?" he wanted to know.
Do you think his question is valid?
What about where you live. ? Must you adhere to strict dress codes before you can enter certain establishments?

I think a short dress could come under 'formal wear' while short pants are not - just saying.

Many fine restaurants won’t allow shorts. I prefer it that way. We once left our hotel when a family all wore jeans, cutoff jeans, and flip flops to a Christmas Eve dinner. We found a lovely French restaurant opened where everyone was dressed appropriately.

In India in office people have to wear fully covered clothes. Men full shirt and trousers and women something like that- A saree, salwar suit or jeans and T- shirt.

@Kandae11 That's true. Earlier there wasn't any need for such rules as people knew what to wear in which occasion. People these days are too experimental.

I think that dress codes are common sense. I would not enter a Church in shorts even as a tourist. And there are dress codes for marriages too. But some dress codes are a thing of the past here. Now people can go to the Opera in jeans.

@marguicha I am not religious but when I did go to church years ago I wore jeans. That’s all I had and I thought better to go and enjoy the sermon then not. I doubt cared what was on the outside of me only what is on the inside.

We don't go anyplace that won't allow me to wear shorts if it's warm enough weather for me to feel like I want to wear them... which, during the summer, shorts, a tank top and sandals are all I'm wearing. Any place that wants me to put on more clothes just lost my business for all time.

@Kandae11 I agree... No place is so good that they have to put on airs...

I have not heard of this before but I have seen men who look strange when they wear their shorts with coats or hats and scarves. I always thought that shorts were best worn in the summer with a lightweight t shirt or vest. These days they wear them all year round even in the very cold weather.

I do not mind his legs bare, but I have a bit of an issue the way he is posing

@Kandae11 To me, in my eyes, it is a bit of a girly pose. But that is only my thoughts.

@RebeccasFarm. Ha, ha. You are probably right -- can't say the same for the other picture posted with my comment.

The state of Oregon, where I live is a very undressed up place. I doubt there are many places where
anyone would be refused entry because of how they dress.

Yes, certain elegant restaurants and private clubs here do have dress codes.
