Weekend in Miami

We returned late last night from a weekend in Miami which was a wild and crazy time. That’s why I disappeared from myLot.
We celebrated my nephew’s birthday with my brother and sister-in-law and had a surprise visitor - our older son! He was in Miami on business for his law firm, but had time to join us for dinner. We were all so happy to see him and be all together again.
Our nephew lives and works in the Brickell section of Miami, and had two extra bedrooms in which we stayed, except for our son, who had a hotel room.
The weather wasn’t the best, but we spent time in Little Havana, the Art Deco District, and South Beach and revisited our favorite haunts.
Well, I’m back, and will play catch up between laundry and housework. I may even need a quick nap

@DianneN Ohhhhhh, I had wondered how that situation was out there. I sure know the feeling . . . sometimes we feel about that here. I mean, there are still folks like us who are extra careful, but basically most people have snubbed masks by now. Ugh! But I'm glad you guys stayed safe!!

It was very nice being together, but hubs, my son, and I seemed to be be the only masked people in all of Miami. 
. Thought you'd appreciate knowing that.
I'm thinking of sitting out on the lanai and reading with hubs now. My mojo comes and goes today.

@Tina30219 I think I'd rather just go with hubs. Easier to eat where we want and shop where I want to shop. lol

Naps are good. I didn’t get one yesterday, and I was out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow last night!

I'm sure the weather there was way better than what we got over the weekend especially New England. Sounds like you had a fun time and a nice surprise seeing your son too.

I always love visiting Wynwood and Coconut Grove when I’m in Miami. And of course, South Beach! Glad you had a great time, especially since you were able to see your older son!

@DianneN You have some great connections if you have a friend on Fisher Island! Maybe you can introduce me to them! Haha
Wynwood is an artsy section of the city, and is fast becoming an art district comparable to the art deco district.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.
Looking at the map, is the Art Deco District the Design District? Otherwise, that one isn't on the map.
I'm glad you could spend the weekend with your family and your older son. Awesome! Happy Birthday to your nephew.

They are different, but the the Art Deco district runs along along Ocean Drive in South Beach. It has awesome architecture and is famous for Gianni Versace's former mansion where he was murdered nearby. The Design District is loaded with fine dining, upscale shopping, etc. We were there, too. lol

It's always nice to be with loved ones even if the weather doesn't want to cooperate.

@DianneN That's so nice. Putting together a plan and having it work out is wonderful. When you add something or someone special to the mix that was not in the original plan, you have an experience that no one will forget.

I agree. I knew he was going to be in Miami, but he never told me when. It was a surprise to hear from him that he was in town and could get away for dinner. Now he's back in New York/New Jersey. I was hoping he could visit us at the condo, but things did work out for the best for all of us.

That sounds like you had a really great time. Glad you got the chance to be with your family. I hope you're having a great new week, The SS guys seem to have me on a yo-yo, I got used to having my SS every second Wednesday and even if sometimes it was hard to wait for it I managed. Then in January, they popped it in right at the first week. It was great, but I wondered why and now as I was counting the days and thinking I had two more days to wait, it was this Monday, and I ordered my groceries. Guess they are keeping me on my toes
