My Wife Lived in Turkey

My wife lived in Turkey for nine years back in the 70s. She worked as a teacher for the children of US Air Force families who lived there when we shared the base. She has been quite upset about the news and the destruction and death. Most of her time was spent in Adana, where damage has been severe and it was not far from Aleppo, Syria. She went there often.
She donated some money to The White Helmets, a fairly controversial volunteer group working and training in the area.
What a terrible thing this has been for those people. But, the death toll may not be as high as the quake they had in 1999.

That is so tragic. Does your wife still have friends there?

That is sad. I'm always so glad to hear of those who go to help in times like this. Like the dogs who are there that have been trained to find bodies. I hope many are found a live.

@celticeagle She does not have any friends in the area still. A mother and newborn were taken out alive over 100 hours.

That would exceed the 1999 total. It's a wonder there wasn't a big one while she lived in the area.

@JamesHxstatic That area is so dangerous. I hope they are not going to have more powerful aftershocks.

If those like me who are not connected felt the misery I can imagine your wife's condition.

Yes, it has been on her mind constantly, with some tears as well.
