I´m in a state of shock!!! An invitation.

I just received a call from my brother. He invited me for dinner tonight! Maybe you will ask me what is so shocking about this invitation. So I´ll tell you. My brother lives 2 houses away from me yet he never invited me or came to see if I was dead or alive during the pandemia. He has a house in the mountains and he has invited me once (ONCE) in 23 years, once he invited my mother, for the week end. Yet he invites cousins and second nephews all the time. You know that when I want to go elsewhere either in Santiago or in a mountains, I ask Dixie when are we going (or if I can go to their house for one reason or other). I ask her When, not if they will invite me. I even bought some flannel sheets to have there during winter. My brother has a swimming pool in his house here and I have not used the pool for over 24 years. Then, now, suddenly, he invites me. I said yes. Is it maybe because my brother in law (whom he worships) is very ill? Is he discovering that we are getting old? Today I will wear the caftan that Claudia broght for me from Granada, Spain. It is more than beautiful! I´ll take a bottle of water as I´m not drinking much wine.

Well, I wonder why he was so neglectful of you these years? Sad. But yes, let us see what happens. I hope the meeting will be lovely Marguicha. After all, yes, age is happening, I understand. I wish I could go to his swimming pool

I wish I know. But I have accepted it now. I have an adopted family that could not be better.

I guess that was quite a surprise. Hope it goes well, though. I can relate. I haven't heard from my brother since I got cancer. We're not on bad terms, he just doesn't care about anyone.

When people grow old, they may try to treat others nice and kind. I hope you will enjoy a good day with your brother. Yes, I must say I am quite in shock that both of you live so close but it seems your relationship gets so far...

Maybe since your brother in law is sick he realizes we are not going to be around forever and you are family. I hope you enjoy your time together.

I think he is mellowing because you're all getting older. The same thing happened to my SIL. We hadn't seen her in 22 years; but she came to visit last year. I still held some bad feelings for her due to things I won't go into; but I smiled and played the good hostess. I'm glad you're going to his house. Maybe you can mend some fences.

@LindaOHio With Dixie and Humberto I feel absolutly at home and they feel at home in my house. With my brother, as you did, I played the nice visitor.
