A surprising get well card!

Do you still send get well cards? Or birthday cards? I know a lot of younger people these days don't, but they might send a text or a Facebook message. Consider yourself very special if you receive a phone call. I've gotten several cards since I've been sick, but the most unusual one was from a doll club that I helped form about thirty years ago. Over the years, I quit collecting dolls. I really didn't even know the club was still active. The president of the club signed the card and five others signed well wishes, too. It was a sweet surprise. We had fun years ago meeting at each other's homes and going to doll shows together. About the only thing I collect now is dust, lol. Have you received any cards lately? Collected anything?

I haven't received any cards lately but every month the local gas and electric company send me mail That was nice getting a card from the doll club. What kind of dolls did you collect back then? I remember dolls were very popular way back when and I always wanted to collect them. I was always in love with the baby dolls that looked so real. You're right about the younger generation not sending cards. It's kind of sad to think that card sending might become a thing of the past.

A lot of things have gone now. Kids don't even learn to write in script. I collected just whatever kind of doll caught my interest. I made a doll to look like our daughter Tammy, but my favorite is a china head doll that belonged to my great grandmother in Illinois in 1870, I think. I made an outfit for her that was in style back then. BTW, chuckled at "..every month the local gas and electric company send me mail."

@1creekgirl I always loved dolls from when I was young. I bet the china head doll was a keepsake. I can't imagine that it belonged to your great grandmother from 1870

@Marilynda1225 I wrote the date, but I think that was close. I hope my kids will keep it in the family.

@RebeccasFarm I wish I knew how to light a fire under those people! They wouldn't be dragging this along if they were the ones needing their glasses. I slept good, so that's a lot to be thankful for.

We still receive Christmas cards and some Birthday cards, although my SIL has sent e-cards and called instead on occasion. I'm so glad you've gotten some cards. I'm sure they help keep your spirits up. I would send one if I had your address! Take care and feel better soon.

Thanks! My Oncologist prescribed Oxycodone to help me sleep which did help for a few nights, but I took one today because I was hurting from the lung surgery. It didn't really help much, but it gave me the worst migraine! It's just now easing off. Although, it could be because the Botox for migraines has worn off. I hope I can get them again soon.

@LindaOHio I'm waiting for a phone call from my Neurologist to see when I can possibly get the injections. I'm praying the upcoming treatments won't affect it.

I always send cards, (along with Happy Birthday texts).. but I still think a card is the good old-fashioned way to do it. And I do my best to keep up with Facebook birthdays when I get the notifications. Like here's what I did for my mom's birthday yesterday.. I texted her Happy Birthday but also got her all this stuff as soon as I woke up so it would be ready before she got home, like a surprise.

Cards have become few and far between these days, from receiving them to sending them. Great you got one though.

I used to send them frequently years ago, but it takes having a reason to receive a get well card to make you really appreciate it.

It is a very long time that I do not send cards and I do not receive cards. Mail service is very good here, but it's horrible in Italy where I should send the cards, I know it's wasted money.

@1creekgirl - Time by time I read in the Italian newspapers that they find bags full of undelivered cards thrown in the garbage bins. Italian Mail is not reliable.
