A baby seal that left the water in Brick Township New Jersey went traveling on a street on Monday which alerted concerned residents to contact the Brick Township Police Department to allow the baby seal to walk out of danger and into the backyard of a house. After the baby seal was out of danger, the police contacted the crew of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center who picked up the seal and took the animal to their facility to be taken care of. After the baby seal who weighs 36 pounds was found to be in good health at the marine center, the baby seal was taken by the marine officials to go back into the water on Tuesday afternoon. That sounds weird, a baby seal walking down a street. I wouldn't have thought it would leave it's mother.

The area where the baby seal went on the street is close to a bay. The law enforcement officials that seals leave the water to walk on the streets frequently.

I am also happy that the baby seal was rescued by the authorities and given treatment inside of the marine center and released to the water the next afternoon.

The seal was turned away from the street into a yard by the police when they gave the seal to the marine center officials.

That is likely what happened since a lot of seals get out of the water into land in that area in New Jersey.

36 pounds is light. It was good it was rescued, before some car might have rammed it. We had a 500-kilogram elephant seal filling up at a petrol station here recently. It smashed a few windows in the process.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, I am sure that any customers at that petrol station, would have tried to stay well clear of that elephant seal. It would have been scary, I agree.

I am in agreement with you that the baby seal was rescued and then receive care in the marine center before being returned to the sea the next day. A huge elephant at a petrol station must have a huge animal that has the power of wrecking windows of any auto is scary.
