Tornado Watch

We’re under a tornado watch until eight o’clock this evening. Rain is pouring down and heavy winds are blowing. I’m hoping the tornado swerves before it gets here . We haven’t had a tornado in the area in a long time although we get warnings that tornadoes are in the area. We had a close call last year. I holed up in the bathroom with a tub full of quilts and pillows. It swerved at the last minute and we only had a power outage and some trees down. The wind is lightening up a bit now, so I hope we’re okay.

Thanks, I believe the tornado passed us by. the wind and rain is lightening up and the sky's lighter. Did you have any damage?

I am also hoping that no tornadoes come to your area tonight. My area was hit by a tornado a couple of months ago and thankfully there was no blackouts in the area that day.

@RubyHawk My relatives and myself were lucky since the tornado hit downtown and the airport area. The house was not affected.

We didn't, the rain stopped and the wind settled down. All's well. I saw tree branches on the ground when I went out today but no damage.

As I recall, a "watch" means the conditions are right. A "warning" means funnels have been sighted. Which is the case where you are? Here, it is calm and not that chilly.

@RubyHawk I don't remember a tornado ever hitting Chicago when I lived there. But I remember the tornado watches and warnings on TV. When I lived in Iowa, a tornado tore through our town and killed three people.

We had heavy gusts of wind and pouring rain. The tornado either veered in another direction or ran out of steam. I didn't look online to see what happened. I was just happy it didn't hit us.

@JudyEv It passed us again. I was in a tornado that damaged our roof, wound the top off a tall tree, and damaged our car. It went right over the house, if it had touched the ground it would have taken the house with it. We had to put on a new roof, repair the car, and cut the tree down. Luckily we had insurance.

I hope you will be okay. This morning out of the blue wind and rain happened at the same time. It was awful, I never heard so much racket in my life. It finally passed headed east. Prayers for all in the of this storm. Be safe.

How scary that is. There are almost never any here in Oregon, though we do get some winds strong enough to take down trees. I hope it stays away from your area.

@RubyHawk We had one in Florida several years ago and had immense warnings. It did miss us, but hit Delray Beach which is 15 minutes from us.

I hope things are well and no tornadoes ever came. We never had them in our area, but if we ever do we'd probably go to the bathroom too or run down to the basement.

The tornado faded away or veered away from us. There are no windows in my bathroon so it's the safest place to go during a tornado, I holed up there a year or so ago when we were on a tornado watch.

It is scary, I've only been in one and that was years ago. Tornadoes usually pass on over our area.
