Falooda - a memory

In the good old days there were not many shops or Malls close to where we lived. Shopping meant travelling to places where there were shops (not Malls) We did this on weekends. After shopping we would visit a restaurant and spend some time there relishing Falooda that you see in the photo. Falooda is a combination of ice cream, syrup, milk, jelly, sweet basil seeds. There were both straws and spoons provided. How was your off line shopping in the good old days - I suppose there was no online shopping then. Image Credit:

I still don't rely on online shopping and do offline shopping on the weekends. We have lots of wholesale shops here from where we can buy things at much lower rates than we get online.

In the good old days in Italy we had no Malls and no large grocery stores. I loved those small stores where the owners served the clients. Mom used to go out every day buying what she needed to cook for the day. On Sunday we always went out to have lunch at a restaurant after the Mass.

The food in the photo looks very different from just syrup, milk, jelly and seeds. It looks like it has fruit and ice cream a cherry etc?

No online shopping for me back in the day. I used to love going downtown with my mother or grandmother. We shopped and had lunch - both favorite pastimes of mine

We have a mall, but it's not like it used to be. We also have a few strip malls too.

I don't like online shopping because I feel there is a difference in the rates when we buy the same thing offline.

There were no malls here in the old days too. But there was a wet market and many small shops near my residence. Is Falooda quite sweet?

You eat the ice cream with the spoon and then you stir the rest of the ingredients and use the straw
