We are starting a new student in our specialized classroom. She is coming from a different town and is in Foster Care.
In addition we may be adding a new paraprofessional to deal with the heavier case load.
All of this with four days until Spring Break.
I had a hard time going to sleep last night. Maybe I am excited.

Our school year ends before Memorial Day, so it is time for a break. We also will have a couple of extra days off at Easter. It is ironic though. Our break will actually be over before Spring is officially here.

@GardenGerty yep I looked it up and Easter is April 9. The kids have a half day the 6th for parent teacher conferences then have the 7th-10th off for Easter.

Maybe a little of both excitement and apprehension.

You said it! The student started yesterday. The teacher interviewed the para candidate after school today.

Actually new children are like little mystery puzzles that we get to work on solving.

Work is the key word here. I am working extra hours as we look for more employees, plus one of our regulars is out for gall bladder surgery.

@GardenGerty - There are a few lucky kids who are treated well by foster families, but so many unlucky who are treated like servers.

She's a cutie and seems to adapt well. She really needs the expertise of the teacher in our specialized program. And some stability.

She seems to enjoy being here. Has had a rough year and is in foster care. She is becoming a good playmate for another of our children. A large focus of our classroom is students with more severe autism.
