Good morning, friends. I´m traveling with the TV.

I am old and live alone. These 2 things are problems for me and my life has changed a lot since I was young.
I had to sell my car after the chemotherapy as I didn´t dare drive too much. One of the chemo side effects was a peripheral neuropathy and my feet and hands tickle, hurt and tremble when they want to. I am not saying anything against chemotherapy, mind you. Over 10 years ago I was diagnosed with a non Hodgkin lymphoma. As these ailments don´t "hurt" a lot, it was discovered on the final stage.
Chemo was offered for possible remission (not cure) and a maximum in rare occations of survival up to 10 years. I asked who had better chances and of course I was not the perfect patient. I was older than the best patients, had smoked for 50 years, drank (although I was not a heavy drinker). I don´t remember the rest.
What I do know is that over 10 years have gone by and I´m on complete remission. It bothers me to have the neuropathy but if I had not chosen chemo I would not be writing here now.
And that takes me to the TV.
I used to like to walk but now I can´t do it. I used to like beautiful shoes but now I can´t wear them. I´m waiting for Skechers to make a glass slipper with memory foam
I had such a long list of places where I wanted to go! And now I can hardly walk. So I thank TV. Lately I have traveled a lot to Africa to watch lion cubs play with their mothers. I have learned to accept how some animals must kill others to survive. And I understand that mankind is the only animal that kills out of hathred
That takes me to other channels with which I dig for archeological treasures. I have unearthed a viking ship and Egyptian tombs. I have learnt about Tutankamon, so young when he died!
Do you travel with the TV? Where? That other things do you watch on TV?

I'm so happy you survived all that you went through. My friend here, who has cancer, lost the vision in her left eye and she can't feel the bottoms of her feet. She will never be cancer free, but goes for monthly infusions. Both of you are fighters.
I only watch the news on TV and American Idol lol. Otherwise we watch movies most nights.

I decided long ago that I would NOT define myself by cancer. I´m a woman who happens to have cancer (on remission
), white hair by age (dyed of course), and that bothering problem in my legs, feet and fingers. I accept that my body rejects too much liquor now but I can still drink a bit when I am with Dixie´s husband. He, too, is drinking less now
But we only drink the best now
. I´m happy to be able to have fun reading, watching TV and mylotting. I´m sociable and I´m glad that I have the means to have a helper for some chores and enough money to buy what I want to treat my guests. Yay for the good fighters. No need of weapons there

I love your " waiting for Sketchers to make a glass slipper with memory foam" how I can relate to that !!! I'm also living in the world of Sketchers.
Yes, I travel with the TV. I'm limited as to what I can do because my knees are so bad so I do watch a lot of tv.

I just bought online one of Skecher slip ins. I put them on (no need to bend) and started to sing "I could have danced all night" from My Fair Lady"
My brother was with me and HE bent laughing

@Marilynda1225 I now need a shoehorn to put on many shoes so these shoes were out of this world. I can´t bend all the way. Not even to laugh
Skechers are the best shoes I´ve seen in a long time. They are better than Nikes and Pumas and all the others for old feet

A lot of cats like domestic ones kill just to do it though they don’t eat the birds and mice and things much.
I am so sorry you can barely walk that has to be so frustrating. Good to be alive for sure but sad what chemo left you with. Chemo ruined my father in laws kidneys he needs a transplant asap.

@marguicha that is a good point if that’s the only major issue you have at that age. I know the diverticulitis is starting though too so I don’t want to dismiss that like it’s nothing I can imagine it was terrible.

I am soon to be 78 years old. Decades ago, not many people reached my age for one reason or other. I am a young woman with bad legs. I accept that. Others have diabetes, high blood pressure and many other problems. Just now, I´m watching the news while eating a delicious piece of chocolate cake. Before that, on commercials, I walked a bit inside my house for exercise. I am not losing hope. I will never be able to take long walks but I´ll surely walk better if I do my therapy.

@shaggin I have diverticulitis and Humberto said that part of my problem last week could be that. I have had IBS all my life but at my age diverticula is a problem too. A scrape the strawberries with my fingers before eating them.

@allknowing What I mean is that we belong to the old mylot. We are not old, of course.

@marguicha You have handled that ailment with dignity. And you do not have to put old in quotes as I am old (lol)

I don't watch television but I do like to watch nature videos online. I watch videos about different types of animals around the world on YouTube as well as watch videos about the stars and different planets.

I imagine that it is about the same. And they are doing it much better every day as technology is better in cameras and the like.

I love to learn about other places. Many years ago, we traveled a lot with my husband on vacations. Things change. But I can still "travel" watching TV documentaries.

You are quite the survivor. When Skecher makes that glass slipper we will both buy a pair. Hehe.
I had a long list of places too. Now my world is on the tv and the internet. I travel to Europe during the 1800's a lot. Have been doing that research into the Victorian Era.

I think that everyone should be a survivor. After a certain age, you either have one ailment or another. Dixie. my best friend, has had a lot of heart surgeries one of which was an open heart one. Many of my friends have diabetes. It is a shame that there aren´t spare parts to buy at a sort of Body Depot

I'm glad your treatment was so successful, but yes the neuropathy must be troublesome and not being able to do the things you love is very hard. I'm glad that at least you get to enjoy different places vicariously.
I hardly ever watch TV although now and then we will watch a wildlife programme together or something on archaeology, the same kind of things as you. I also love to read travel books.

I think that we never go to all the places we want to go. I wanted to go to Macchu Picchu with my husband but he had gone several times as a bachelor so he chose other places. Then I yearned for Istanbul and got cancer. Humberto told me not to worry. I could go there and get a guide with a cab of sorts and I would not have to walk. Now I would not go there even if the fare was free. But I can see those beautiful things online. Books have better colors now than before too. I love those programmes on TV although I couldn´t watch a soap opera if my life depended on that

@marguicha We will never get to visit all the places we want, for one reason or another. I wanted to visit Syria, and Afghanistan, and Yemen, but I don't suppose I will ever go there now. And even if I did in say, 20 years, the countries I wanted to see, that I had read about, no longer exist.

That´s how I look at my neuropathy. The world is cruel in many ways. And mother Nature sometimes behaves like the worst stepmother.

I am so glad you have survived to be with us here. My husband is interested in Egyptology and many other subjects and watches YouTube many nights. I'm addicted to the Game Show Network and reality TV.
