Great progress is still being made on the power restoration in town. The local area is down to less than 16,000 without power after starting at over 80,000. The weather has cooperated with the crews, too. So thankful! You, on the other hand, might be so thankful when I spring today’s song from a movie on you.

If you haven’t seen the movie Groundhog Day, this song gets a co-starring role.
Of course, this was a hit long before that film introduced it to a new audience. And it bears the distinction of being the last song Sonny and Cher sang together, in a spontaneous reunion on Late Night with David Letterman. Easily one of the best moments in Letterman’s history.
Your worthless trivia: the head of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club is played by Bill Murray’s older brother, Brian Doyle-Murray. They’ve been in several movies together, including Caddyshack (which Brian co-wrote) and Scrooged. Brian has also done serious work, playing Jack Ruby in JFK.
You probably didn’t need that to enjoy this song again. And again. And again. And again….

@Marilynda1225 — they’ve done a remarkable job. This wasn’t one or two transformers that blew. There were over 2,800 poles or lines taken down in the windstorm last Friday, and that was not only here in the city but all over the state.

Down to 13,000 now, and yes it is a lot…but considering over 2,800 power lines and poles were knocked down by the storm, I’d say they’re doing a remarkable job.

Love the song. Never watched the movie.
Thankful power is coming back and that your weather has been beautiful. Super windy here today. Going to be cold for the next couple of weeks again, like we are finally going to have Feb. weather in March...why I don't like warm winters.

Never saw the movie but there was a time when I thought I'd scream if I heard I Got You Babe one more time. Now it has been a long time since I heard this song,

The premise of the movie is that the meteorologist keeps re-living February 2, and every morning he wakes up “I Got You Babe” is playing on the alarm clock radio, always at the same place.
