Awful times

Folks in my area are discussing house taxes and how they have gone up this year quite a bit. I also saw folks discussing the price of living in a trailer park. I wonder if there are laws regulating how often a trailer park or whatever name you might call such a place- can raise the lot rent? I would feel trapped living in a trailer park, wondering when the lot rent will be higher. I just saw that some parks in a Seattle suburb are as high twelve hundred a month. I sure those folks get something beyond the basic ability to have their home parked on a lot. Of course that twelve hundred is just a sneeze compared to Seattle stick built house rents. I'm grateful to have a stable housing situation. Very grateful.

I lived in a mobile home back in the 80s. I think the lot rent was $40. Can you believe it?

@celticeagle I believe 40 dollars went a lot further in those days.

@sallypup .........I hope the $1200 goes to maintaining the place and not to the owner's drinking bill.

Our rent on the ground we don't own goes up about 12 to 15 dollars a month each year. We don't pay for water or garbage pick up and there is a clubhouse with a pool & gym.

@JamesHxstatic It sounds like you have a nice place. Is your pool useable or is it swarming with kids? Years ago I lived in a mobile home park that had a pool. We could barely use it due to it having so many kids in it.

@sallypup We live in an over 55 community, sometimes people bring grandkids, but not often. We should use the pool more often.

I wouldn't be able to afford a place like that even here where rent is usually lower than most other places. Land owners are making a killing with those lot rentals. I wonder how much maintenance for something like that would be. Hmmmmmmmmmm

That's a lot for a trailer lot. News is filtering down here about rents going up. I don't know what I'm going to face when I have my next renewal. I'm glad your housing is stable.

What with covid and travel restrictions, many Australians have bought caravans and gone travelling around their own country. But now caravan park fees have gone up to glory. Sometimes it seems everyone is a bit too greedy really.

Hello! It's important to research and understand the rental agreements and laws in your area before renting a trailer or mobile home. It's also important to consider the long-term financial implications of renting versus owning a home. I'm glad to hear that you have a stable housing situation and are grateful for it.

That tax seems pretty stiff for those who live in trailer parks. I count my blessings every day that we don't have to worry about paying our property taxes in CT and in Florida. There are many unfortunate people who don't even have homes to live in.

I am grateful that we own a house too. The rents in some parts of the country are so prohibitive. I would hate to have that hanging over my head.

@LindaOhio It's hard for me to totally believe that we are done messing with mortgages or buying houses. Now we just pay taxes and groan about that. And house insurance.
