My first snow peas of the late Winter are ready for harvest!

I saw some snow peas ready for harvest today! Soon I will plant my corn, sunflowers, and green beans for Spring and Summer. If you look toward the bottom (and slightly to the left) of this, my most prolific snow pea vine, you can see a pea hanging down, ready to be stir fried. Of course I will offer a prayer of thanks to the Snow Pea Gods and the plant itself. I hate eating plants, as they can't run away. I hate eating animals too, but at least they can kick and bite and run away. When will you do your Spring planting?

That is an attractive vine. We don't do any planting here until the snow is off the mountains which is usually mid-May.

@TheHorse .......It would be late for folks living in California. Use Home Depot. Lowe's isn't as good.

That's late by my standards. I wonder when they plant the corn and soy in my adopted state of Iowa. I will visit Home Depot or my nearby horse food store for some Spring seeds soon.

Snow peas are probably one of my favorite vegetables! How fun that you have them for your dinner. It's a good thing I can't get there, cuz I might steal some!

Is that about when the farmers plant their corn? Are you among those farmers?

My pumpkin/squash won't be ready before we leave. It's hardly grown at all from when I posted about it here.

@JudyEv I am wise. But if Californians chose to grow things like pumpkins this year, they might succeed.

I see it ! How will you reach it? The vine is quite beautiful! We have a lot of weeding to do . . . that's it. I think that will take up most of my time .

My husband has been working on it for the past couple of days. We're expecting rain this weekend, so he's hoping that'll help the new seedlings.

I see that your snow pea vine has flowers, soon you will get your snow peas. I already seeded the tomatoes and hot peppers. The tomatoes are already sprouting, the hot peppers take a longer time.

I use big pats. They're good enough for the stuff I grow. My sunflowers never get big, but that's OK.

I LOVE snow peas! I grew them one year but found that the yield wasn't worth all of the space that the plants took up in the garden bed.

Snow peas are one of my favorite "crops" to grow with kids. My yield is always pretty small here, but it's still fun. I should have a few dozen this year.

@TheHorse That’s perfect. I have large trees around my deck. Hardly any sun gets through. But I set out there in my swing so I like the shade.

@TheHorse Icall mine a deck but it’s actually a balcony. It’s in shade and all that will grow there is Ivy. I used to grow tomatoes and oregano until trees shaded the space.
