Escaped the Rain

Actually, it was coincidental that I escaped the rain, but a while ago I planned a weekend getaway to Disney World to celebrate that green Irish holiday. Yes, I know...I'm at Disney again! How many freaking times can a person go there? lol Disney World is much, much bigger place than people realize. It takes some time to visit everything there is to do there. With 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, 1 shopping district, and 28 resorts, there's a lot to see and do! Anyway, I digress. We headed down to Disney on Friday morning to visit the Epcot theme park, and take part in "drinking around the world," a favorite activity of parkgoers when they visit Epcot. Plus, with it being St. Patrick's Day, it was a good excuse (although expensive) to go do some day drinking. So far, I'm doing really well hobbling around on my crutches due to my broken foot. No major mishaps yet, and the crowds haven't been an issue for my mobility. But like I said in my title, my timing of visiting Disney was perfect, as another cold front is pushing through north Florida, and it has been raining like crazy back in my hometown of Gainesville. And it's probably going to be that way the entire weekend. The cold front hasn't made it down to central Florida yet (where Disney is located), so it's been a picture-perfect weekend for me so far. So big win for me! How's your weather looking? Were you able to avoid or escape rain or other weather conditions this weekend?

Glad you’re having good weather down there and enjoying Disney World. We had rain all day yesterday but cold and sunny today. Have fun and take care of your foot.

Thank you. The rain was moving into the Disney area today, but we left before it t got there and came home to beautiful clear skies and cool temps.

@RubyHawk I was just thinking about that this morning. A month from now we’ll be baking in summer-like temperatures and high humidity, so I need to enjoy this cooler weather while I can.

We had snow the day before yesterday and then that melted off in the rain storms. Now, it's just mostly cloudy and 27F at 1:45 pm... We're supposed to reach 32F, hopefully... but I wouldn't bet on that. I hope you're having fun.... Just be careful. You don't want to break anything else until your foot heals up.

@moffittjc You should try to remember that it can still be Winter where I live until the middle of April... I can remember getting a foot of snow in April. And it stuck around for a few days, at least. And that's where you're mistaken... You can do crazy things whether you're drunk or not... Just sayin'.

I keep forgetting that just because it's been so nice in Florida that the rest of the country is still dealing with winter. Hope you stay warm and that you don't get any more snow! Yesterday I was day drinking all day at Epcot, and hobbling around on my crutches. That was my greatest chance of doing something stupid and injuring myself more, but I made it through with flying colors. But I have to give credit where credit is due...my gf and daughter kept watch over me and ensured that I didn't do anything crazy.

@DaddyEvil Only til April? It never fails every single year that we'll get a freak cold front come through in May and drop our temps significantly back to winter-like weather. Two years ago, we had that freak cold front hit us in June, and everyone had to break out their hoodies and jackets.

I have never been to Disney World and never knew that it is so big. What fun! Enjoy your weekend but be careful with your foot. St Patrick's Day is a good excuse to have a drink or however many you want. I remember going out to the bars on St Patrick's Day and I had a blast. When I was down in Georgia we found this little Irish Pub and I loved going there. Sure miss those days.

@moffittjc I'm glad that you had fun yesterday. You deserve it. I will have to Disney World up and check it out. You were lucky to miss the rain. I hope the rest of your weekend remains dry.

The entire Disney World resort property is bigger than the city of San Francisco. Yep, it's that big! And they've only developed about 1/3 of the total property they own in central Florida! It's been a long, long time since I've gone out to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I have to admit, I really had a good time yesterday.

@moffittjc Are they setting themselves up then for something by having overload of capacity?

@RebeccasFarm Disney has also been building a lot of new rides at their theme parks, so that is creating more and more demand on top of the demand that is already there. The parks are already overcrowded (some say beyond their carrying capacity), and by adding more rides they are just encouraging more and more people to come.

The parks are way too crowded for motorized wheelchairs to effectively maneuver. Otherwise, I would be popping wheelies down Main Street!

I imagine tomorrow we'll get all that rain this is up in north Florida right now. But I will be coming home from Disney by then, so I won't really care if it rains at the theme parks or not. I'm just excited it will be a little cooler for us next week. I'm not ready for summer-like temperatures yet!

Broken foot? You must have a post about that somewhere back about a week. My computer issues are so complicated that I won't go into them; but I can't go back more than about 12 Discussions; so I decided to start at the beginning. I am behind almost a week. But I digress. I hope you feel better soon; and yes, you can go to Disney too much. lololol Just kidding. It's in the 20s here; and we are expecting s**w squalls today. Ahhh to be in FL. Take care and keep in touch!!!

Yeah, I broke my foot last weekend in our first paintball tournament of the year. I wrote a discussion about it. Sorry to hear about your computer issues. I think you should forget about your computer and just hop in the car and head to Florida! Actually, wait a day or two before you come, there's a lot of rain right now in north Florida due to a cold front pushing through.

We got a foot of snow the other day and more last night (with some snow melting in between). I prefer this over the heat, humidity, and allergens (that caused my doctors to tell me to get out of Florida and stay out), but I miss heavy First Coast Florida rain and thunderstorms.

Sadly, I don't own stock in Disney. Which is fortunate in a way, because their stock has taken a huge beating over the past year, and the value is down significantly. But then again, that means it's a good time to buy it.

@moffittjc That being said, I have not been a fan of Disney stock for a lot of reasons for a very long time. I would not personally be a buyer here or anywhere...but of course others have different ideas about certain companies. It's what makes the market of course.
