How often do you go to an ATM?

I don't like to use ATM's because most of them charge ridiculous fees, unless you use ones associated with your bank. Besides just about every place takes cards or apps for payment now, so cash is not really needed. I did use one the other day though since I wanted to withdraw some money from Paypal to put into the bank. I don't have automatic transfers set up with my current bank. I went to a no surcharge one, since I couldn't see using one that had a big withdrawal fee. Usually if I need cash I go through a grocery store check out, but that wasn't practical yesterday. Do you like ATM's or avoid them?

I haven't used an ATM in years... If I need cash for something, I go through a grocery line and buy a pack of gum.

That is my general thing to do as well, but some ATM's have little to no fees. The one at Costco, I think is fee free...and the one I used has very low fees, although they used to be totally free.

@snowy22315 I don't bother looking to see if they charge or not. I know the grocery stores never charge fees.

@FourWalls Yes, I think Dollar General charges a 1,00 for cash back or something. Needless to say, I never get it there, although it is cheaper than ATM's. My grocery store is free for cash back.

That is what I usually do, but this was right across from the bank and was a no surcharge one. Well, supposed to be, I noticed someone charged me 1.50 for the service though.

@snowy22315 — our Kroger stores started charging a fee for cash back, which is stupid. If you pay $300 to them for groceries they can eat the 20c or whatever for a $20 cash back. So, now I get my money at Wally World or Meijer.

I only go to the ATM when it's really need like to bank a check. I don't like using my phone to take a picture of checks to put them in the bank. I rather bring it to the ATM or inside the bank. Yes, sometimes we got to get cash because we might be going somewhere, where cash is easier to use then to use our bank cards or credit card.

A few times a year is all for me. I will take money out to pay the hair dresser as she takes cash, but I usually just ask for cash from my checking account when I pay for my groceries with my debit card. There is no additional fee and the cashier just hands it to you. I always take $20 per week for my hubby for his coffee money, I don't need any cash unless I have a hair appointment. Money will grow old and decay in my wallet before it is spent.

@Juliaacv Yeah, maybe so. The dollar coin didn't last long here.

I use cash sometimes at the hairdresser too! I found a dollar in my wallet when I was putting in the money yesterday...I was wondering how long that had been in there?? I had no clue. That is how little I use cash.

@snowy22315 Here we just have coins for dollars or toonies for two dollars, it hurts less to pay for things with pocket change like that.

Usually if you use your bank card at a bank owned ATM it doesn't cost anything...at least here.

@snowy22315 It is different here, there is a fee even if you use your bank card at the bank owned ATM. At the ATM is in front of the bank, I step inside and I get my cash.

@snowy22315 Oh yeah, thankfully, since the atm is same with my bank card, so I don't pay a fee. Usually, if the atm is not with the same bank card, they will charge a fee as well.

I withdraw money from an ATM once or twice a month. I also think withdrawal fees are a little too much and some banks are charging just to check the balance through the machine. Thank goodness for online banking apps.

I seldom need to use ATM since the cash is not very popular here. We like to pay by phone and it is much more convenient.

I like to get cash back at Walmart since they don’t charge a fee like some many other places I go to. Dollar tree today asked if I wanted cash back. Only $1 fee but I didn’t want any. ATMs charge a fee then my bank charges a few on the of it so it winds up being like an extra $8-$10 I have to pay at an atm that isn’t connected to my bank. I’ve only had to do that twice though thankfully.

Gee I would say once a year only Snowy. Even though I only go to the one inside the bank, I still don't like to as the area is quite dangerous.

I just don't feel the need to use cash anymore. It is a rare place that doesn't take cards. I know sometimes food trucks don't. I was at a rodeo a couple of years ago, and the food places didn't take cash but they had an ATM set up there...so I had to avail myself.

I don't use them. I can't really see them, and they aren't accessible. You kind of need to know you need wired headphones with you if you want audio output (for security), but I don't carry wired headphones, I don't even like them.

I'm neutral on them. Not nearly as convenient as doing things online, but sometimes I use them to transfer money between my online-only bank account and a joint account I have with my mom. There's one ATM at Target that doesn't have fees for Capital One accounts, thankfully... if they did I'd probably avoid the ATM altogether and just use Zelle to send the money instead. Then again, I hate paying avoidable fees so I usually don't bother with instant withdrawals from PayPal, either. A few business days to complete the transfer is usually quick enough.

I get PP money on the PP debit card and use that 99 percent of the time. I withdraw from that too if I need to.
