The Moon and The Star

I went out for an evening stroll with my granddaughter and I saw this beautiful image up in the sky. I couldn't help but get a photo of it. I wished though that I had a better camera to capture the beauty of it all. The round small "ball" is actually a star and the bright thing below it is a quarter moon. The image is not so clear because of the wind and the clouds. The star shone brilliantly just on top of the moon and I was wondering if it was some sort of omen. Whether good or bad omen, I'm not sure. What do you think? Have you seen anything like it before? I welcome all your comments. Thank you.

It happens, it depends how clear is the sky and if the neighbors turn off the lights in the garden.

This is another more general view, from the hospital building in our street.

@Jenaisle We have this kind of sky during summer, right now the brighter stars are at the opposite position of the moon.

@LadyDuck Yes, I wish I could see the night sky in Switzerland, perhaps it looks different from another POV?

I have never seen anything like this. It is way cool.. I see a nose and a mouth but no eyes. Sorry my imagination got out of hand.

Now, that you've said it. Yes, it looks like that too. Perfect lips, if I may say so.

@Jenaisle I see some dark shading around the mouth area. They must be lips. Good for you. Now if we could just find the eyes. lol

That shot is really pretty good, it is not easy to get heavenly shots unless you have a camera with a powerful zoom lens.

@rebelann Same here, these are occurrences that should be captured on cam. But recently, I saw many photographers, who took a picture of it. Image credit: Joan Bondoc.

Yes, iphones can only do so much. I wish I could afford one of those cameras with the really powerful zoom lenses but they are extremely expensive

I've read it in the news, that it would be a rare sight in the sky on March 24-25, if I remember it right. Brightest planet Venus hides behind the moon. But sadly, I wasn't able to see it. Not sure if there's still another one coming in the next days.

So, it was not a star. It was the planet Venus. My mistake. That's why it was big and very prominent than the other stars. Thank you for the information.
